A Florida cop’s body camera captured the moment he rescued another deputy from fentanyl exposure – during a routine traffic stop that saw the officer collapse after administering an on-site substance test.

Identified as Flagler County Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Huzior, the lawman is now in recovery – thanks in part to his fellow officer’s quick-thinking.

The incident happened around 3:45pm Thursday, after Huzior pulled over 61-year-old George Clemons for fleeing a hit-and-run scene in nearby Bunnell and taking off on State Road 11, causing several near-crashes in the process.

Now out on bail despite facing an array of DUI and drug charges, Clemons eventually pulled over – at which point cops came across him still sitting in the red SUV, in the driver’s seat, with its keys out of the ignition and beneath his legs.

Huzior and other deputies immediately spotted a slew of narcotics, as well as an empty Bud Light can and a mini bottle of alcohol in plain view, cops said.

The footage released by the Sheriff’s Office Friday begins shortly after Clemons refused Huzior’s request for a sobriety test, spurring him to test one of the drugs – a powdery white substance – then and there.

Almost instantly, the officer – who was wearing personal protective equipment but still found himself overcome by the overdose causing drug – is seen succumbing to the synthetic opioid, which is more than 100 times more potent than morphine.

‘I feel lightheaded,’ he is heard telling Deputy First Class Kyle Gaddie in the first-person footage, which shows an array of pills, marijuana, and unspecified powders spread out on an at this point already arrested Clemons’ hood.

‘Call EMS,’ the officer adds, audibly out of breath.

Telling Gaddie he feels lightheaded, shaky, and is loosing feeling in his arms and legs, the deputy is seen losing his balance – spurring his senior officer to get out of his car, where he had been parked previously for a traffic stop.

Knowing that the narcotics Huzior had been testing could contain fentanyl – a deadly synthetic drug now used by sellers to make other drugs more powerful – Gaddie dishes out a dose of Narcan, a drug used to reverse the effects of a fentanyl overdose.

Despite the precaution, Huzior’s condition persists for several minutes – spurring Gaddie to give his comrade a second dose.

As this is happening, Gaddie is seen steadfastly crouching by Huzior’s side, while whispering words of encouragement.

At one point, he asks Huzior how he feels – to which the deputy replies that he feels ‘dizzy.’

‘I feel really dizzy,’ he says, before eventually being carted to a nearby hospital. ‘My heart is beating really fast.’

‘My left hand is going numb,’ Huzior says at one point, leading Gaddie to administer a second dose.

Huzior at this point tells his superior that he his now feeling numbness in his face – to which Gaddie replies: ‘That’s probably the Narcan hitting you.’

Within minutes, first responders were seen descending on the scene, with an ambulance arriving and Huzior loaded into the emergency vehicle via a stretcher.

In a statement Saturday, Sheriff Rick Staly revealed the officer was still recovering from the scare, and confirmed the substance he ingested had, in fact, been fentanyl.

Clemons, meanwhile, was arrested on charges of DUI, possession of fentanyl, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of a legend drug without a prescription, possession of Suboxone – a prescription used to wean off opiates – and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Bunnell Police Department also charged Clemons with leaving the scene of a crash with damage to vehicle or property in relation to a hit-and-run, which is a felony.

Fentanyl – approximately 100 times more potent than morphine – is responsible for about 100,000 deaths each year in the US, not including deaths overseas.

Over the past eight years, the opioid has been funneled into the country in increasing amounts at the southern border – with some 8,400 kilograms of the overdose-inducing drug seized in 2022.

During the time, a believed 325,000 people died in the US have died from overdoses involving synthetic opioids like the ones sold by the raided Mexican stores, which experts say are almost always made of fentanyl.

Aside from being far more powerful than others on the black market, the drug is mass produced by Mexican cartels, who make it from precursor chemical smuggled in from China, and then press it into pills designed to look like other medications.

The practice is illegal, and has been on the radar of federal authorities for the better part of a year.

Still, such practices manage to persist and are, in fact, still on the rise.

The former sheriff’s deputy who fled to safety during the Parkland school massacre broke down in court today when a jury found him not guilty.

Former Broward County Deputy Scot Peterson wept as the verdicts were read. The jury had deliberated for 19 hours over four days, acquitting Peterson of all 11 charges which included neglect, negligence, and perjury.

After court adjourned, Peterson, his family and friends rushed into a group hug as they whooped, hollered and cried.

One of his supporters chased after lead prosecutor Chris Killoran and said something. Killoran turned and snapped at him, ‘Way to be a good winner’ and slapped him on the shoulder. Members of the prosecution team then nudged Killoran out of the courtroom.

The campus deputy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Peterson had been charged with failing to confront shooter Nikolas Cruz during his six-minute attack inside a three-story 1200 classroom building on Feb. 14, 2018, that left 17 dead.

The acquittal concludes the first trial in U.S. history of a law enforcement officer for conduct during an on-campus shooting.

He could have received nearly 100 years in prison, although a sentence even approaching that length would have been highly unlikely given the circumstances and his clean record. He also could have lost his $104,000 annual pension.

Prosecutors, during their two-week presentation, called to the witness stand students, teachers and law enforcement officers who testified about the horror they experienced and how they knew where Cruz was.

Some said they knew for certain that the shots were coming from the 1200 building. Prosecutors also called a training supervisor who testified Peterson did not follow protocols for confronting an active shooter.

Peterson’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, during his two-day presentation, called several deputies who arrived during the shooting and students and teachers who testified they did not think the shots were coming from the 1200 building.

Peterson, who did not testify, has said that because of echoes, he could not pinpoint the shooters location.

Peterson is shown talking into his radio on the day of the shooting. He advised that shots had been fired and said where they were coming from but later claimed he did not know the shooter was inside the building he was terrorizing

Eiglarsh also emphasized the failure of the sheriff’s radio system during the attack, which limited what Peterson heard from arriving deputies.

Security videos show that 36 seconds after Cruz’s attack began, Peterson exited his office about 100 yards from the 1200 building and jumped into a cart with two unarmed civilian security guards. They arrived at the building a minute later.

Peterson got out of the cart near the east doorway to the first-floor hallway. Cruz was at the hallway´s opposite end, firing his AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle.

Peterson, who was not wearing a bullet-resistant vest, didn´t open the door. Instead, he took cover 75 feet (23 meters) away in the alcove of a neighboring building, his gun still drawn. He stayed there for 40 minutes, long after the shooting ended and other police officers had stormed the building.

Peterson spent nearly three decades working at schools, including nine years at Stoneman Douglas. He retired shortly after the shooting and was then fired retroactively.

Cruz’s jury could not unanimously agree he deserved the death penalty. The 24-year-old former Stoneman Douglas student was then sentenced to life in prison .

Bizarre moment senior politician walks into Parliament dressed like Tina Turner with an 80s-style wig

  • She performed the ‘dare’ to raise money for cancer charity

Deputy Liberal Leader Sussan Ley has arrived in Parliament wearing an 80s style wig and dressed as her ‘alter ego’ Tina Ley-na Turner to raise money for charity.

Ms Ley appeared in the House of Representatives on Tuesday in front of a tentative crowd in a black camisole, pearls and the frizzy blonde mullet wig.

Speaker Milton Dick introduced Ms Ley ‘with some nervousness’ and she confirmed her costume was a ‘dare’ from her community, ‘for a very worthwhile cause’.

‘I am here today as my alter ego, Tina (Ley-na) Turner,’ she said.

‘At a cancer support fundraiser in Griffith last Friday, my song partner challenged the 700 strong crowd to reach a $100,000 target – but only if I took Tina to Parliament House.’

She described cancer as a ‘tougher curse in the country with the tyranny of distance’ and revealed the total sum of $100,000 was later doubled after accepting the conditions of the dare.

‘I want to thank the generosity of the community in Griffith. In the Riverina, we just get things done.

‘Two years ago, I announced around five million dollars from the Coalition Government for a new Cancer Centre in Griffith.

‘Now that money gets you the bricks and mortar but there is always more needed for patient care, medical costs and equipment.’

Last week, Ms Ley performed at an event to raise money for the care centre, which is due to open in May.

Video footage of the performance shows Ms Ley dancing and singing alongside radio DJ Starry for Triple M Riverina.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ms Ley appeared on 2GB Radio to slam Prime Minister Anthony Albanese over his super announcement.

‘This is a dishonest prime minister. He’s deceived the Australian people,’ she said.

‘Now he’s breaking promises, in fact he is breaking promises he made hundreds of times before the last election, and he’s ramming policies through the parliament that he didn’t even mention once.

‘This is a perfect example… if you’re 37 years old, and you’re looking at investing more in your super, in 30 years’ time you’ve basically been told that what is described as $3m dollars today has shrunk to about $1m. Now, we have enough trouble convincing young people to invest in super and now they see this changing of the goalposts.’
