A video of Tesla shooting a promotional clip of its Cybertruck cruising through the snowy landscape of Iceland has been leaked online.

The EV was spotted driving behind another vehicle with a camera crew in the trunk, suggesting the Elon Musk-founded company is gearing up for the highly-anticipated launch –  about 1.5 million people have reserved one.

Early customers paid $100 to secure their model that has been delayed for more than three years.

But the video and Musk announcing the first unit rolling off the assembly line in July suggests the Cybertruck rollout is set to happen sooner than later.

A video of Tesla shooting a promotional clip of its Cybertruck cruising through the snowy landscape of Iceland has been leaked online

The footage comes one day after an internal email from Tesla surfaced that threatened to fire any employees caught taking pictures of the Cybertruck.

The communication is likely due to many leaks from staff working closely with the vehicle plagued by delays.

The email to employees reads: ‘Effective today, any employees or contractors found taking photos or videos on-site of anything related to the Cybertruck (e.g. vehicle, parts, production line, etc.) without an official business need/justification (i.e. dictated by job/scope and validated by Security during initial contact) will be immediately escorted off-site pending HR investigation and follow up contact.

‘The CT team will issue photo passes/stickers to appropriate personnel in the future to help expedite interactions with Security for business-related photography/videography.’

It is unclear who leaked the promotional video, but the footage suggests that the Cybertruck will likely handle it well in winter conditions.

But the shot points to Tesla ramping up marketing for the vehicle that is more than one-year delayed from its initial launch date.

The Cybertruck – starting at $39,000 –  became a sensation when revealed to the world in November 2019.

The celebrated event quickly became a nightmare for Musk after the glass on his new electric ‘Cybertruck’ was smashed just after he boasted about it being ‘shatterproof.’

During the announcement of the truck – which looks like an armored vehicle with angular sides – Tesla design chief Franz von Holshausen tried to prove the glass was ‘shatterproof’ by throwing a heavy metal ball at close range.

Musk was heard muttering ‘oh my f***ing God’ when the glass smashed.

Some speculated the hiccup may have been part of the show, but it did not stop people from reserving one for themselves.

The waitlist with no reservation is at least three years from when the first Cybertruck is delivered.

Musk had promised production would begin in early 2021, but that date slipped away. And each year, a new date is set and missed.

The CEO has previously blamed battery supply issues for the delay, saying that each Cybertruck would ‘literally cost a million dollars a piece or more’ if Tesla had started producing the futuristic vehicle in 2021.

However, in July, Musk finally made the first vehicle at the Giga Texas manufacturing facility in Austin.

A photo showed over 100 staff in hard hats and high-vis vests surrounding the vehicle at the 10 million square foot facility.

Two months before, the world received its first look of the interior, which caused a rift among fans.

One Twitter user said the ‘Cybertruck’s interior looks like it came from a 1980’s low budget sci-fi prop piece,’ while others called the dark gray cabin flat out ‘ugly.’

However, some users think the interior looks ‘simple and clean’ and ‘love the overall look.’

The images, shared on a Cybertruck enthusiast forum, have not been confirmed, but they show a massive interior screen, futuristic-looking seat controllers and a bare cabin.

The photos show a view from the driver and passenger seats and a side shot inside the Cybertruck, which Cybertruck Owners Club shared.

A massive display hangs in the center of the dash, but wires can be seen hanging from the back.

Twitter user Facts Chaser tweeted: ‘Nearly four years after its unveiling, why is the screen activated via this DIY wire assembly?’

The user also highlighted a feature to the diver’s left – a small window shaped like a diamond.

‘That A-pillar monstrosity looks like it would severely obstruct visibility,’ he tweeted.

The center console has a paneled design as the cover that slides open and closed, which looks like what was in the early Model S and X vehicles.

However, fans are more disappointed about the lack of a third middle seat in the front of the Cybertruck, which had been rumored since the vehicle’s debut in 2019.

What the seats do have are controllers fashioned in the same finish as the exterior and crafted in unique designs that some fans were overjoyed to see.

Eagle-eyed locals spotted a strategically camouflaged test Cybertruck roaming the Bay Area tech hub just south of San Francisco, suggesting the futuristic vehicle is one step closer to market.

One Twitter user even reported catching a glimpse of the vehicle’s interior, saying that this Tesla‘s test truck sported a conventional round steering wheel — and not the infamous, controversial revised ‘Yoke’ design that has divided Tesla fans.

The black white and gray design is far from the shiny steel plating that fans have been drooling over since the Cybertruck was revealed in 2019.

Elon Musk had previously announced owners of the $39,000 EV would ‘be able to wrap it in any color or pattern’ – the cost has yet to be revealed, but reports speculated it will be thousands of dollars to complete.

Test vehicles, often called ‘mules’ in carmaker lingo, need to be tested in real-world conditions. However, they risk unwanted attention from rabid fans, curious bystanders and automotive paparazzi before they’re ready for prime time.

Truly ‘top secret’ brand-new vehicles will sometimes even be driven with clunky foam pads, fake headlights and other feints to disguise their novel features from the press and competitors.

But a sleeker disguise is needed for a car like the Cybertruck that’s nearly to market, so engineers can focus on testing performance indicators like aerodynamics, drag and cooling. That’s where confusing, ‘magic eye’ car paper comes in: a full-vehicle vinyl wrap to obscure its shape by tricking digital cameras and the naked eye.

‘We all walk around with image-capturing devices in our pockets,’ as Ford Motor Company’s camouflage coordinator, Al Wilkinson, told the Globe and Mail in 2018.

‘If I were to leave the plant right now,’ said Wilkinson, ‘nine times out of 10 the same guy’s parked out there waiting for one of our prototypes to get a picture of it.’

‘Those guys have special equipment and hide in trees, rocks, and walls. They’ll pounce on engineers while they’re out testing to get the first picture.’

Given the Tesla mule’s sleek wrapper, industry watchers believe that Tesla’s Cybertruck prototype seen in Palo Alto on Tuesday indicates that the all-electric pickup is coming very soon.

But what is known is that Tesla has sent communications to its parts suppliers for the Cybertruck, codenamed ‘Project Everest,’ telling them to anticipate production of 375,000 Cybertruck units per year.

Test vehicles, called 'mules' in carmaker lingo, need to be tested out in real world conditions, but risk unwanted attention from both curious civilians and automotive paparazzi before they're ready for prime time. The industry's answer? Shape- and eye-confusing camouflage

The company’s most recent official comment on the EV truck’s launch timeline is a delivery event slated for ‘around the end of Q3,’ which some interpret to mean the final days of September 2023.

As a consequence, Tesla Cybertruck sightings have become increasingly frequent In the past six months.

And it has been a long time coming: the vehicle was infamously first unveiled in November 2019 and has blown past several very public deadlines

Rumors suggest that the automaker has continued experimenting with the EV’s design over the intervening four years, with rugged and unusual features like a single wiper blade.

While it’s unclear which features, from the steering wheel design to the dashboard display, will be locked in for the fall launch, excited customers could be spotting a test Cybertruck themselves on the road near them any day now.

Would you pay $100 to go on the waiting list?

The Cybertruck – expected to start at $39,900 – has been seen in the wild several times, but never before has the interior been shown.

The photos show a view from the driver and passenger seats and a side shot inside the Cybertruck, which Cybertruck Owners Club shared.

An image of the steel-plated vehicle surfaced online, showing it at a standstill in a Fremont parking lot that looked nothing like the one Musk initially unveiled.

Along with bizarre cords lining the top, the Cybertruck also featured different wheels and front chassis that ‘looks like something a four-year-old created with Lego blocks.’

Twitter user Hilson Valli tweeted. ‘The only way this could work out for Musk is if he announces ‘Just Kidding!’ and releases a reasonable-looking truck that’s been developed in secret all along. Otherwise, this will be a massive flop. It looks like crap.’

Some compared it to ‘something that got rejected for a role in Mad Max: Fury Road’ or the Megaweapon from the 1983 film ‘Warrior of the Lost World.’

‘Yikes, I’ll admit most of the promo shots made it look pretty bad*** but this side profile is ugly af. The stainless steel is gonna be a mess of scratches and finger smudges,’ one user tweeted.

Though it’s an enclosed camping space, the attachment can also open up on one side to allow drivers to sleep under the stars in ‘stargazing mode’ if they so desire.
