Julia Morris has shared some cutting remarks while discussing the end of her marriage. 

The comedian’s divorce from husband Dan Thomas after 16 years as husband and wife came as a shock to many. 

But the 55-year-old tells this week’s issue of Stellar Magazine that the end was a long time coming. 

‘Let’s just say I wasn’t married to the person I thought I was,’ Julia explained candidly. 

‘I have become an Olympic medallist in running him down. But to be honest, I have been trying to stop doing that because I don’t want to let him into my life at all anymore. I’m free,’ she went on. 

‘Unfortunately, I’ve had my eyes opened and I’ve had a big awakening about my people pleasing and what I will tolerate and how I see the best in people – and that’s not always the truth.’

The TV host announced her divorce in May last year. 

‘I’m famous for saying I feel like every year we’re going to break up. But it definitely gets to that same point, which is that we are just not necessarily growing in the same direction,’ Julia told The Australian Women’s Weekly.  

The I’m a Celebrity host explained how she began to see her husband as a ‘pest’ as their relationship became more fractured. 

While Julia described her marriage breakdown as ‘super sad’, she was determined to set an example for their daughters Ruby, 16, and Sophie, 14, not to settle for an unhappy relationship. 

‘I think that’s where patience starts to wear down to, ‘I’m not living like this. How is this an example for my girls that this is an okay life to lead? No thanks’,’ she said. 

Elsewhere in the interview, Julia revealed how she’s learned to manage the household chores her husband previously took care of – including looking after her finances. 

The TV star has also become more familiar with the internet. 

‘Now I’ve got to download permission slips from school. And I’ve never worked in an office – I’ve taught myself all that stuff,’ she boasted. 

It comes after Julia announced she was ‘no longer interested in sex’ following her divorce.

Speaking to The Kyle and Jackie O Show last October, Julia insisted: ‘I think I’ll shut up shop. I’m done with roots.’

A shocked Sandilands then asked her if she at least ‘takes care of business’ herself.

Morris admitted she does pleasure herself ‘sometimes… if I can be bothered.’

She said that ‘self-care’ is not a priority for her because she’s too busy, adding: ‘Who’s got the time? I’ve got washing to do!’

Morris married British comedian Dan on New Year’s Eve in 2005.
