Any parent to a toddler knows that holidays with our little bundles of joy can be somewhat… challenging. The journey! The routine! The sleeping arrangements!

But it’s a case of sweet relief at Harbour Beach Club Hotel & Spa in the salubrious seaside town of Salcombe. Not only is it in a swanky location that makes the south coast of England feel like the French Riviera, but it makes relaxing with a toddler in tow a cinch.

From warm and friendly staff – who were happy to fulfil my two-year-old son’s requests of racing them at breakfast – to parent-pleasing free gin in every room, this picture-perfect Devon hotel makes for the ideal beachside bolthole for families.

Harbour Beach Club is set in the beautifully unspoilt bay of South Sands in the South Devon Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a mile and a half outside the centre of the exclusive town of Salcombe, which was named Britain’s most expensive seaside home location earlier this year.

The setting is truly hard to beat, with the scenic beach just two seconds from the hotel, a huge perk when you are travelling with young children and seem to be back and forth to your room constantly for snacks, clothes and nappy changes.

Offering panoramic views across the beach, the hotel is secluded enough to provide a welcome break from the tourist madness of central Salcombe, but within easy reach of its many attractions.

What’s more, guests can park up for the weekend, ditch the car and visit Harbour Beach Club’s sister hotel in Salcombe using a free shuttle service. The town is perfectly walkable if you don’t mind hills.

My son Oscar, two, was delighted by the sweet local ferry from South Sands to Salcombe town. Riding out into the bay on the ‘sea tractor’ was without a doubt one of the highlights of his trip (and probably life!).

A brand new spa, which opened in March, is another bonus. It’s home to a 12-metre pool, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a suntrap terrace, sauna and steam rooms. I was lucky enough to enjoy a signature facial and drifted off to sleep in blissful relaxation.

Time can also be passed simply relaxing and sandcastle-building on the beautiful beach. And handily, Harbour Beach Club has a well-stocked selection of beach goods, so not to worry if you’re short on space or travelling by train.

We borrowed a bucket and spade, crabbing lines and a pair of adorable Hunter wellies for Oscar whenever we decamped to the sands.

There are plenty of activities on offer too – including free beach yoga, paddle-boarding and kayaking.

And those with more adventurous tastes can even try their hand at wild swimming, fishing trips and guided coastal hikes.

We were treated to a boat trip around Salcombe Harbour with an incredibly knowledgeable guide who even let Oscar steer the boat, something he still talks about to this day.

However, one of the main highlights for us as parents was that the staff seem to genuinely love children and even knew Oscar by name by the end of our four-night stay. And they thoughtfully allow parents to have a glass of wine in relative peace during mealtimes by giving little ones stickers and activity books.

Old and young are kept happy foodwise, too, with the restaurant offering a good choice of children’s food options and adults treated to a wealth of delectable seafood options and delicious local fish, as well as a robust wine and cocktail selection.

A university student who has never played football has been signed to a professional Czech club and will become captain after his father donated 500,000 Koruna (£17,500).

Third tier club FK Usti nad Labem has brought in 22-year-old Martin Podhajsky, who is more familiar with the FIFA video games than the real thing.

In what has been described as ‘the weirdest transfer ever’, the law student will replace the club’s third team captain Jakub Mares, much to the shock of players and fans.

He has even registered with the Czech Republic’s Football Association.

Before making his debut – which reportedly will only last ten minutes, Podhajsky will join the team at their training sessions.

The club chairman Premysl Kuban said: ‘He doesn’t play football – only FIFA on the computer. However I don’t see 500,000 Czech Koruna rolling on the floor every day.

‘If someone gives me this type of money, I’ll let anyone join.

‘He said himself that he would like to play, then his dad called and things started to move,’ he said according to the BBC.

Following the signing, the club posted on Instagram: ‘We will lead 3:0, we will put him in the attack for ten minutes, he will replace Mares.’

Kuban continued: ‘It is planned that he will start training in the fall. And in the spring, when we play seven games in a row at home, he will really affect the game.

‘We are now adjusting the contract with Martin, and the fans will see him already at our first home game, so far only on the substitutes’ bench,’ iDNES reported.

Podhajsky is an employee for Viagem, the real estate company owned by president of the club Kuban.

Despite the shock signing, local media reported that many fans are delighted for Podhajsky with more than 800 stating his joining and his father’s donation offers as a ‘win-win situation’ for the club.

For the best part of the last four decades, he has been host, friend and – perhaps above all, given the uninhibited behaviour he’s witnessed in the small hours of the night – custodian of secrets.

Now, though, at the age of 78, the man who can truly be called ‘Mr Chelsea’, the urbane, effortlessly engaging Giorgio Burlo, founder of 151 – the basement nightclub in London’s King’s Road from which Prince Harry once beat a retreat via the fire escape – is calling it a day.

The club’s opening night, in 1985, was attended by the so-called ‘Seducer of the Valleys’, baronet Sir Dai Llewellyn, who became a fixture, as did Princess Diana’s one-time lover, James Hewitt. So, too, did doomed socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson – ‘she lived there,’ reflects Giorgio, explaining that Tara was, for a time, girlfriend of one of his sons, Simon – and Bob Geldof, who held ‘lots of parties’ in 151, ‘including his 50th’.

With so many rich memories, Giorgio is only embracing retirement with reluctance – and after a protracted tussle with Cadogan Estates.

Headed, until his death in June, by the uncompromising 8th Earl Cadogan – who memorably closed a restaurant on his 93 Chelsea acres because it failed to impress him – Cadogan Estates refused to renew 151’s lease after the end of lockdown. ‘I was paying rent, but they sent it back,’ Giorgio tells me. ‘I always did what they asked, but, for some reason, they wanted the club back.’

Its closure caused dismay among devotees, with one of them writing: ‘I feel like a piece of me is missing.’

With no sign of the impasse being resolved, Giorgio underwent what was meant to have been a routine thyroid operation, lasting half an hour. But a mistake – ‘the surgeon forgot to close my vein’ – nearly proved fatal. ‘I went into a coma,’ adds Giorgio, who remained unconscious for a week.

Subsequently, he accepted the inevitable, aware that, with a £5.6billion fortune, the Cadogan family could afford to sit tight, even if it meant the club lying empty.

‘They’ve bought the remaining 15 years of my lease,’ he tells me, adding that Cadogan has also handed over a very modest sum for the right to use the 151 name.

But he still has his memories – including those of the two Princes. ‘Harry came a few times,’ he recalls. ‘He walked around, talked to people. William was serious. He was sitting there, in a corner. He behaved like a prince, like someone who would one day be king.’

Another royal, not normally associated with night-time frolics, popped in. ‘Prince Edward came,’ recalls Giorgio, adding that Edward was accompanied by ‘an entourage’ of friends.

There were much older visitors too, including actor Leslie Phillips, forever known for his fruitily voiced ‘Ding Dong’ catchphrase, who cruised into 151 when in his fifties, and lawyer George Carman, who notoriously contrived to secure the acquittal of former Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe, when Thorpe was accused of conspiring to murder his former lover, Norman Scott. Carman, remembers Giorgio, ‘danced – and everything.’

Only those who failed to meet Giorgio’s standards of dress and decorum were turned away. George Michael was one of them. ‘He had an earring,’ recalls Giorgio, explaining that men with earrings or tattoos were barred.

More recently, the 151 had become a home from home for the stars of Made In Chelsea, like Binky Felstead. ‘I treat it a bit like a second home,’ Binky said. ‘If I’m not getting enough attention or I’ve had a lot to drink, I just kick off my heels and go to sleep.’

Other club owners might have reacted with fury. Not Giorgio. ‘I thank everyone who visited the club,’ he says.

Of Cadogan Estates, he reflects: ‘It is very well run – ruthlessly well run. Let’s hope that running 151 will get them to £6billion.’

Cadogan Estate confirms that it has purchased the lease for the club as ‘part of an agreement which was reached following the tenant’s desire to retire and close the business’.

A spokesman says: ‘Cadogan recognises the value that establishments such as The 151 Club bring to Chelsea and, for this reason, has taken the decision to retain the premises’ name and use, and will shortly be looking to lease it to a new occupier in keeping with the spirit of the original.’

Speaking at a BFI event in London to celebrate his 50-year career, the Scotsman, 77, says: ‘I have grown-up children who I love, but they can be occasionally nasty. My daughter is wonderfully crazy, but the boys can be a little tough to handle.’

The smart set’s talking about… Flora’s brush with her Churchillian past

Flora Soames is too young to have met her great-grandfather Sir Winston Churchill, but she chose a venue close to his heart for her book launch.

The interior designer, 40, left, held the party at Lavery’s Studio in Kensington, West London, where Churchill was taught how to paint by artist Sir John Lavery.

Her book, The One Day Box, is a ‘memoir of the houses I’ve lived in and that I love’, she tells me. ‘The book is about my insanely out-of-control collecting habit. I have had a one day box for my entire life: a place where I store things that I could not bear to let go of, from fragments of letters, textiles, old paper and china.’

Her husband, the ceramic artist Alexander ‘Blondie’ Macdonald-Buchanan, was one of her inspirations: ‘He’s incredibly supportive. I feel like it’s very much our tale to tell.’

Jemma: I’m having too much fun to marry

The Duke of Wellington’s son and heir, Arthur Wellesley, is due to be married to Canadian Hayley Whitehead, but his former wife, Jemma Kidd, won’t be exchanging vows with her billionaire boyfriend, Arpad ‘Arki’ Busson, any time soon.

‘I’m not engaged,’ the model and make-up artist tells me at a party in West London. ‘I’ve only just got divorced and I’m enjoying life very much and liking where I am right now.’

She has been going out since 2021 with French businessman Arki, 60, pictured with Jemma. He has two sons with Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson and a daughter with Pulp Fiction star Uma Thurman.

Jemma, 48, the sister of TV personality Jodie, has three children with Arthur. ‘I’m starting a new business, which is at an embryonic stage,’ she says. ‘I just have my head down because a new business is like having a newborn baby. It’s to do with wellness and everything I am passionate about.’

Pregnancy has given Pixie Lott a taste for meat. ‘I’ve been a pescatarian for a long time and now I eat chicken,’ the pop singer tells me. ‘I really enjoy it and I don’t know how this has happened.’

Lott, 32, who’s expecting her first child with her husband, the model Oliver Cheshire, adds: ‘I love eating Nando’s and there’s a takeaway near us called The Fat Chicken — that is the one.’

Bond girls blast 007 bosses for killing spy

Bond girls are still shaken and stirred from Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, No Time To Die, when not only did he have a child but the spy was killed off, to boot.

‘The fact Bond died upset me,’ The Spy Who Loved Me star Caroline Munro tells me at the launch of Alistair Guy’s photography exhibition, Incidentals 2, at House of Swaine in Mayfair.

Martine Beswick, who appeared with Sean Connery in From Russia With Love and Thunderball, says of the latest film: ‘I did not like it.’

Referring to Lea Seydoux, the French actress who starred opposite Craig, Beswick says: ‘I didn’t like the main Bond girl. [And] I didn’t understand why they had to have a child — it did not work.’

Dust off your topper, Wills!

It could be rather deafening in Norfolk today, thanks to the ‘Turnip Toffs’, who’ll not only be shooting partridge but letting fly volleys of champagne corks — especially at the van Cutsems’ 4,400-acre Hilborough estate, home to the Prince of Wales’s great friend William van Cutsem and his wife, Rosie.

For Rosie’s younger sister, Lucia Ruck Keene, 37, has got engaged to Old Harrovian landowner Jack Wrigley, 32.

Lucia grew up in Oxfordshire, in the manor house once owned by Jerome K. Jerome, author of the Victorian classic Three Men In A Boat.

But during lockdown she took refuge at Hilborough, where her brother-in-law taught her to box.

‘Apparently, my left hook was like a wet lettuce when I first started,’ reflected Lucia.

Luckily, she was also allowed time to work on Troy London, the fashion label she and Rosie founded a decade ago and which counts the Princess of Wales among its ardent fans.

Antiques expert Bunny mourns hero husband

She once discovered what was then the world’s most expensive doll, which sold at auction for £188,000. But Antiques Roadshow favourite Bunny Campione has now lost something infinitely more precious — her husband, Major Iain Grahame, who has died aged 91.

During his time in the King’s African Rifles, Grahame had Idi Amin, later dictator of Uganda, under his command. He subsequently visited Uganda with his second wife, Didy, who, to the horror of those present, told Amin to remove the fake VC from his chest.

Amin complied — one of the reasons, perhaps, that Grahame was sent back to Uganda after Amin ordered the execution of Denis Hills, a British writer who’d described him as a ‘black Nero’ and a ‘village tyrant’. Again, Grahame — and Hills — survived.

His first meeting with Bunny was inauspicious: they drove into each other going round a corner on a country lane. But many years later they met again. Love blossomed and they married in 2002.

Heidi Klum’s girl catches up with distant dad

German model Heidi Klum split up with Italian billionaire Flavio Briatore while she was pregnant with his child.

By the time she gave birth to her daughter, Leni, she was going out with pop star Seal, who later became Leni’s adoptive father.

When Briatore, now 73, was asked about his relationship with Leni seven years ago, he told an Italian newspaper: ‘It’s hard to miss a baby you never see.’

Now, however, he appears keen to make up for lost time. I can reveal that Leni, 19, who appeared in a lingerie advertising campaign with her mother, has been enjoying a holiday aboard a yacht in Monaco with Briatore, pictured.

(Very) modern manners

If you see a familiar-looking head hanging out of a window first thing in the morning, it could be Julia Bradbury’s.

The television presenter, 53, has a health routine that may surprise the neighbours.

‘One of my most important daily rituals involves sticking my head out of the bathroom window, rain or shine, as soon as I wake up,’ she says. ‘The morning light works directly on the human brain, setting the internal clocks that are critical to every cell in our body. It has been a life-changer.’

Rachel Stevens detailed the emotional tribute to bandmate Paul Cattermole on Sunday as S Club 7 prepare to reunite.

The singer was found dead on April 6 – just two months after he and the band announced they were due to go on a reunion tour this autumn.

The band’s 25th anniversary reunion tour – which kicks off in October – has been renamed The Good Times Tour, after one of the tracks on which Paul had lead vocals.

She told The Mirror: ‘We have renamed the tour. It’s called the Good Times tour, that was Paul’s solo song that he was going to do an acoustic version of, so we just felt like that was so fitting.

‘Paul is with us on so many decisions that we make, we think of Paul and there’s so many sort of elements that are there with him in mind. It’s definitely gonna be a huge celebration. It is so much fun, so much joy, lots of memories, and it’s a tribute to him.’

S Club has released new single These Are The Days in Paul’s honour, with the accompanying music video showing a montage of Paul over the years.

As the five remaining members of the band flip through a photo album of memories, each shot turns into a video clip of the band as they rose to fame and achieved chart topping pop success.

Paul died at the age of 46 from natural causes at his home in Dorset on April 6, it was announced in a statement released by his family.

His body was discovered in his ground floor flat, devastating his bandmates and fans.

Paul left the group in 2002, citing ‘creative differences’, and the group changed their name from S Club 7 to simply S Club before splitting for good a year later.

Hannah Spearritt, 42, will also be missing from the tour, but Rachel insisted that the ‘door is always open’ for her to return to the band.

She was there in February when the tour was announced, but later learned in July that she was not in the line-up.

The singer, 42, left the band unexpectedly in May, after the shocking death of her former boyfriend and bandmate Paul.

The remaining members of the group – Rachel, Jo, Jon, Bradleyand Tina Barrett – decided to rename S Club 7 as merely S Club and continue as a five-piece.

Rachel went on to say: ‘Nostalgia is such an incredible, powerful thing and there’s so much love for S Club, and there’s been so much support since our new single.

‘So to get back out there and perform music we love and that the fans are going to love is really exciting. Some of our fans might have kids now, so that’ll be lovely to bring their kids along, and I can’t wait for all of our kids to be a part of this too.’#

Hannah and Paul dated from 2001 before splitting in 2006, with the pair rekindling their romance in 2015 before finally going their separate ways just months later.

After his sudden death from heart issues in April at 46 , Hannah told The Sun: ‘I can’t stop crying. I still can’t believe I will never see him again.

‘I’m trying my best to hold it together but once I start, I can’t stop crying. And then I have to keep myself together for our two kids [with boyfriend Adam Thomas]. I can’t even imagine any mother losing her child.’

S Club has released new single These Are The Days in Paul’s honour , with the accompanying music video showing a montage of Paul over the years.

As the five remaining members of the band flip through a photo album of memories, each shot turns into a video clip of the band as they rose to fame and achieved chart topping pop success.

Speaking to The Sun, Rachel said the band are now closer than ever and have bonded over their shared grief.

Jo added the band feel it is important to remember Paul for the ‘goofy’ bandmate he was and will pay tribute to him in their tour.

‘The smiles have replaced the tears, in a really positive way,’ she said

While filming the accompanying music video, they explained they saw a butterfly that they believed was their late bandmate.

Tina told the publication: ‘There was a butterfly. We were all sat down and a butterfly came from nowhere. It was a really bright, beautiful butterfly which flew down and went off. I don’t know why, but I just thought, “That’s Paul”. It came from nowhere.’

A dance music-loving grandfather paid Ryanair £23 to fly 1,500 miles to the party island of Ibiza to go clubbing with friends before returning home in under 24 hours.

Andy Armstrong, 63, said there was nothing on the television and he couldn’t think of anything better to do – so hatched the madcap plan to visit the White Island in double quick time.

He booked a flight with Ryanair, jetting out from Newcastle at 5.20pm on Monday and landing three hours later.

He met friends in San Antonio, before heading to dance club Pacha in Ibiza Town, raving through the night, sleeping on a sun bed and heading to outdoor club Ushuaia for breakfast.

He then caught a 1pm return flight and was back on his own sofa 24 hours later having spent about £300.

The steel worker drew admiration from fellow clubbers when he detailed his escapade on Facebook, saying ‘YOLO’ and adding: ’63 and growing old disgracefully!’

9pm – Gets taxi to San Antonio

9.15pm – Arrives in San Antonio

10.45pm – Gets ‘disco bus’ to Ibiza Town

11pm – Goes to Flower Power at Pacha

Many said he was an inspiration.

Andy, a widower, said he first visited Ibiza with his friends in 1981 and has loved it ever since, going there on family holidays with his wife and daughters Tiffany, 33, and Ellie, 24, when they were little.

it ever since, going there on family holidays with his wife and daughters Tiffany, 33, and Ellie, 24, when they were little.

In fact, it was Tiffany who got him hooked on the island again recently when she took him to Ushuaia at the age of 58, telling him she’d seen plenty of older tourists there and he shouldn’t feel self-conscious about his age.

Andy, of Yarm, North Yorkshire, said he first hatched the plan to visit in under 24 hours with mates on his oil rig, where he works offshore as a steelworker for weeks at a time.

He explained: ‘I’ve been to Ibiza three or four times this year already, it’s my happy place.

‘I was there a month ago and did three nights in Pikes and four in Ushuaia.

‘I love all types of music and saw Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta and Fat Boy Slim.

‘I went back to work and was chatting with the lads, they were asking me how my holiday was, and I just said “You know what, I could just go for a night if I wanted to”.

‘They all laughed and said “No, you couldn’t do that”. But I thought “Yes I could”.

‘It started as a bit of banter, but then there was nothing on TV one night so I thought I’d just do it.’

Andy packed his passport, wallet and a spare shirt into an Asda carrier bag before heading for the airport for his £23 flight out of Newcastle.

On landing, he hitched a cheap cab to San Antonio with some people he had met on the plane, then had a few hours to kill before Pacha opened so went to meet some friends.

From there he got the ‘disco bus’ to Ibiza Town and went into the superclub’s Flower Power night, spending £26 on two beers and £23 on a gin and tonic.

He danced the night away, leaving the club when it shut at 6am and walking to Playa d’en Bossa, where he waited for beach hotel Ushuaia to open.

He then grabbed a £50 breakfast from there and sat on a sun lounger before making his way back to the airport, where he had booked a £130 return with Jet2 at 1pm.

He even asked a passerby to take a picture of him at the famous airport Burger King – known as a haunt of knackered returning clubbers – before boarding.

Three hours later, he was back in Newcastle – and an hour’s drive took him home.

The whole mini break lasted a staggering 24 hours almost exactly.

‘It was more of a challenge than anything else. I’d definitely do it again,’ Andy added.

One added: ‘On the island and inspired by this post this morning, changed some admittedly loose plans and headed into Flower Power at Pacha. It did not disappoint!

And another fan said: ‘This is how you do it. I’m jealous, my friend. Maybe we need to start taking a leaf out of your book. Be more random and spontaneous.’

Cristiano Ronaldo leaves the pitch in agony and close to tears as he’s carted off injured after scoring twice to win his first trophy with Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his first trophy since joining Al-Nassr, despite leaving the match on a stretcher after suffering an injury blow.

Al-Nassr came from behind against Al-Hilal to win the Arab Club Champions Cup, thanks to two goals from the Portuguese superstar, but his night was almost overshadowed by a late injury that saw him exit the match.

With five minutes left of the game, Ronaldo went down clutching his left thigh and was unable to complete the rest of the final.

He left the game on a motorised stretcher, looking in some distress, giving the Saudi side some huge concerns over their talisman.

However, the 38-year-old was able to join in the team’s celebrations on winning the trophy, the first piece of silverware Ronaldo has tasted since his move to the middle east.

Al-Hilal took the early advantage in the tie, as Brazilan midfielder Michael opened the scoring five minutes after half time, before Ronaldo took over proceedings.

He first, equalised for Al-Nassr fifteen minutes from the end, before thinking he’d settled the contest with a late goal that was ruled out for offside.

Instead, the game went into extra time, but still Ronaldo had the last word.

Heading home the winner in the first half of the extended period to secure the trophy for his team.

The goals saw the Portuguese icon become the tournaments top scorer with six goals, as he secured his first trophy since joining the club in January.

Al-Nassr will now hope there is no long-term repercussions of the injury that forced Ronaldo out of the game before the end.

TRANSFER GOSSIP COLUMN: Kylian Mbappe tells PSG he won’t leave the club under any circumstances this summer while Al-Ahli target Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara

The Premier League season is set to kick off tonight with Chelsea taking on Liverpool, but clubs still have until the end of the month to get their key signings over the line.

There have already been some major deals done so far with Arsenal signing Declan Rice, Man United securing goalkeeper Andre Onana and Man City bringing in Josko Gvardiol.

There are a number of huge deals that could still happen – including Liverpool’s bid to secure Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo and Bayern Munich‘s attempt to bring Harry Kane to Bavaria.

There’s also question marks over the future of Harry Maguire as he mulls over a £30m move from United to West Ham.

Here, Mail Sport takes a look at all the latest news and transfer gossip on Thursday.

  • DailyMail.com provides all the latest international sports news

Disgraced NASCAR driver Noah Gragson has requested his release from Legacy Motor Club (LMC) after being suspended indefinitely for liking an insensitive meme about George Floyd.

Gragson was suspended by both NASCAR and LMC last week after appearing to like a meme depicting the face of Floyd, who died in 2020 after a white police officer knelt on his neck for nine-and-a-half minutes.

The 25-year-old issued an immediate apology, admitting he was ‘disappointed’ in himself for a ‘lack of attention on social media’.

And two days after LMC announced he would be replaced for their next two races, Gragson has now asked the team to release him from his contract.

He said in a statement: ‘I have asked LEGACY MOTOR CLUB to release me from my contract so that I can take time to work through the NASCAR reinstatement process.

‘I love racing, and I am looking forward to a second chance to compete for wins at the highest level of NASCAR — and most importantly, make my family, my team and the fans proud of me once again.’

Legacy Motor Club CEO Cal Wells III also released a statement, describing the situation as ‘difficult’ while backing Gragson to ‘come back stronger’.

‘Noah has a ton of talent and has a great personality,’ Wells said. ‘This is a difficult situation, but we are proud that Noah has taken ownership of his actions and are confident he will work through this process with NASCAR and come back stronger.’

Floyd’s death sent shockwaves across the globe, sparking mass protests in a host of countries throughout the world and forcing a national reckoning on racial injustice.

The account that posted the offensive meme that Gragson liked was an obscure one and only had close to 1,700 followers.

After LMC announced the indefinite suspension of Gragson for violating the member conduct of its rule book, NASCAR released a statement at the weekend supporting their decision.

After issuing an apology, Gragson is now calling to be released from his LMC contract in order to work through the NASCAR reinstatement process

‘NASCAR fully supports Legacy Motor Club’s decision to suspend Noah Gragson.

‘Following his actions on social media, NASCAR has determined that Gragson has violated the Member Conduct section of the 2023 NASCAR Rule Book and has placed him under indefinite suspension.’

The Las Vegas-born driver was in his first season as a full-time Cup Series driver before receiving the suspension.

‘Wrexham can be your second club’: Rob McElhenney reveals how he told Chelsea and Manchester United fans on US tour to also support his team

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has revealed how he told fans of both Chelsea and Manchester United to also support his team when they would play against the Premier League’s big boys during its US tour this summer.

Sitting down with Roger Bennett, of the TV show Men in Blazers, which is available for streaming on NBC’s Peacock, the actor opened up on his assessment of what he saw in the stands when his Dragons would play the Blues in North Carolina and the Red Devils in California last month.

Wrexham first lost to Chelsea, 5-0, before defeating Erik Ten Hag’s young side, 3-1.

‘I think this is part of the fun,’ McElhenney said after being told that the Welsh club are ‘non-threatening’ to the likes of Premier League and top European clubs. ‘When we were at Manchester United and talking to the people at Chelsea, I kept saying to the supporters: ”you can have two clubs.”

”’We’re so far apart that you can have two clubs. You can support us, for now.” And we got a great response and I think it was so fascinating to see how many Man Utd fans were wearing Man Utd kits and Wrexham hats.  And I thought, ”well that’s a beautiful opportunity.”’

Asked how he won soccer fans over, particularly in the UK as an American, the 46-year-old McElhenney simply said that he and fellow actor and Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynold ‘just approached everything as honestly as we possible could.’

‘And I often know that will draw the buzz saw… but again, I think what we’re trying to do and we’ve been very diligent in this and this is also very important us, is that we knew right away that if we came in there and acted like the Hollywood jerks who knew what they were talk about that that would be automatically rejected and should be.’

‘But that wasn’t about us coming in and telling people what to do. It’s also the beauty of being so naïve about it.

‘We just asked as many questions as we could. We asked them what they needed and how we could help them as opposed to telling them what they should do.’

Together, Reynolds and McElhenney have made Wrexham one of the most talked-about teams in the UK after buying a down-on-its-luck club for $2.5million in 2021 and making it the subject of a fly-on-the-wall documentary – entitled ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ – that’s charted the journey of a team run by a couple of actors learning the ropes of sports club ownership.

Wrexham is playing in the Football League – the three divisions outside the Premier League – for the first time in 15 years following promotion from the National League in April. The Dragons lost their season opener on August 5 to MK Dons, 5-3, with Reynold and McElhenney in the stands, as well as Hugh Jackman.

Wrexham and the Dons were two divisions apart just three months ago and the visitors quickly showed their quality, taking a two-goal lead 10 minutes into the game.

Jacob Mendy reduced the deficit just before halftime as Wrexham celebrated its first EFL goal in 5,572 days. Wrexham was without injured star striker Paul Mullin and new signing James McClean.

Donald Trump ranted about being arrested while Biden and his family were ‘stealing millions’ in alleged bribes as he left his private New Jersey golf club to jet to Washington D.C. for his third arraignment in the last six months.

The former president stepped into an SUV in his motorcade to prepare for his showdown with the judge on charges he peddled lies that the election was stolen after the 2020 election.

He referenced the recent bombshell testimony from Hunter’s business partner Devon Archer and said ‘I’m being arrested for you’ in a slew of messages as he departed for the nation’s capitol to face four felony charges.

‘Biden and his family steal Millions and Millions of Dollars, including BRIBES from foreign countries, and I’m headed to D.C. to be ARRESTED for protesting a CROOKED ELECTION. UNFAIR VENUE, UNFAIR JUDGE. We are a Nation in Decline. MAGA!!!’ he wrote.

Trump also faces accusations his false claims of fraud stoked violence during the Capitol Riot on January 6. The crimes carry a maximum prison sentence of 55 years.

Cops set up security barriers and were on standby as protesters started to gather for another historic day in court.

In his all-caps signature style, Trump wrote: ‘I am no going to Washington, D.C., to be arrested for having challenged a corrupt, rigged and stolen election.’

‘It is a great honor because I am being arrested for you,’ the ex-president touted. ‘Make America Great Again!!!’

Special Counsel Jack Smith announced the four new charges on Tuesday following an investigation into Trump’s involvement in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and the efforts to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election.

A grand jury voted to indict Trump on conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy against citizens’ rights, obstruction and attempted obstruction of an official proceeding and witness tampering.

Law enforcement erected barriers around the courthouse on Constitution Avenue on Wednesday night in preparation for Trump’s appearance.

Trump is almost assuredly going to plead not guilty to all four felony charges. His team didn’t rule out the possibility of a press conference following the arraignment.

Trump will be met with a barrage of cameras, supporters and even protesters as he is booked and processed by the U.S. Marshals Service. He will be fingerprinted but no mugshot will be taken.

The arraignment is being overseen by Biden-appointed Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya – a different judge will handle the criminal trial.

Trump’s top 2024 competitor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said after news broke of the indictment that Americans should have the legal ability to move their cases out of D.C.’s jurisdiction because ‘swamp mentality’ could affect jurors.

The ex-President agrees, posting to his Truth Social on Tuesday night that it’s ‘impossible’ that he will be given a fair trial in D.C.

‘The latest Fake ‘case’ brought by Crooked Joe Biden & Deranged Jack Smith will hopefully be moved to an impartial Venue, such as the politically unbiased nearby State of West Virginia!’ he wrote on his social media platform. ‘IMPOSSIBLE to get a fair trial in Washington, D.C., which is over 95% anti-Trump, & for which I have called for a Federal TAKEOVER in order to bring our Capital back to Greatness.’

He added: ‘It is now a high crime embarrassment to our Nation and, indeed, the World. This Indictment is all about Election Interference!!!’

U.S. Capitol Police, the Metropolitan Police Department, Park Police, Marshals Service and the Federal Protective Service are all on high-alert for the indictment and prepared for the arraignment for the last few weeks.

‘We’re prepared for tomorrow,’ U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday there was a false report of an active shooter on Capitol Hill, leading Senate buildings to shelter in place during the scare.

The different law enforcement agencies held several calls Wednesday to review plans for the day.

The indictments and growing legal woes facing Trump are only bolstering his support among Republican voters.

In March, before his first indictment, Trump was earning 43 percent of the GOP primary vote, according to a RealClearPolitics average. A day after he was charged in the case involving hush-money payments to Stormy Daniels, his support jumped to 50 percent in the same tracking.

A few months later in early June, Trump was indicted for a second time on 37 charges related to mishandling classified documents he was privy to while President. His polling average jumped again to 55 percent.

Polling on RealClearPolitics only tracks until Monday, August 1 – a day before the third and latest indictment – but it still shows Trump far in the lead against his 14 GOP challengers.
