An increasing number of Britons are turning to rail travel to transport themselves to ‘cloud wine’, Trainline has revealed.

Data gathered by the rail and coach platform shows that stations serving five UK vineyards have all seen a marked increase in footfall this July compared to last year, with Trainline’s Chief Product Officer Dave Price pointing out that ‘Trainline’s digital railcards are a brilliant way to make a saving’ for group trips to the vines – with no designated driver needed, of course.

Here we reveal the five vineyards trending for train trips.

DENBIES WINE ESTATE, SURREY: 41% RISE IN TRAVEL TO THE NEAREST STATION – DORKING

There are trains from London that reach Dorking station in under an hour – and from there it’s a speedy ten-minute walk to the 265-acre Denbies Wine Estate, so you’ll be sipping premium wine before you know it.

Along with several other English vineyards, Denbies – which produces a million bottles a year – shares the Champagne region’s chalky ground, enabling its sparkling wine to give French fizz a run for its euros in the taste department. 

What’s more, it has a hotel in the old farmhouse with 17 rooms. 

RATHFINNY WINE ESTATE, EAST SUSSEX: 41% RISE IN TRAVEL TO THE NEAREST STATION – SEAFORD

It’s a 90-minute walk from the station at Seaford to the Rathfinny Wine Estate, which lies just three miles from the English Channel, but Trainline points out that the scenery along the way is ‘beautiful’ and the quality of wine awaiting you impressive.

Plus, there are vineyard tours to enjoy, ‘dine in the vine’ experiences to savour and scenic vine walks to embark upon.

RIDGEVIEW WINE ESTATE, EAST SUSSEX: 35% RISE IN TRAVEL TO THE NEAREST STATION – BURGESS HILL

After alighting the train at Burgess Hill station it’s a ‘lovely’ 35-minute walk to the Ridgeview Wine Estate, notes Trainline.

The vineyard, which sits on the edge of the South Downs National Park, has cemented itself as one of England’s most prestigious producers.

Queen Elizabeth II served bottles of Ridgeview’s Grosvenor sparkling wine to guests at her 80th birthday party and a glass of its sparkling rose, Fitzrovia, to Barack Obama during a state visit. 

The vineyard offers a winery shop, open every day from 11am to 4pm with complimentary tastings, and a restaurant – The Rows & Vine – that’s open Thursday to Monday.

TINWOOD ESTATE, WEST SUSSEX: 35% RISE IN TRAVEL TO THE NEAREST STATION – CHICHESTER

Hop off the train at Chichester station, then hop on the number 55 bus and it’ll take you to within a 15-minute walk of the Tinwood Estate. 

This vineyard offers the chance to learn the journey of its award-winning sparkling wines ‘from grape to glass’ on a one-and-a-half hour tour before relaxing in its tasting room with three samples to try, paired with food from the vineyard kitchen.

Visitors can also stay overnight and wake up with a view of the vines.

ARTELIUM WINE ESTATE, WEST SUSSEX: 30% RISE IN TRAVEL TO THE NEAREST STATION – PLUMPTON

Tours and tastings are on offer at Artelium, which boasts of being a ‘vineyard with hospitality at its heart, a space to enjoy wine and art against the breath-taking backdrop of the Sussex countryside’. 

The vineyard also offers a ‘Collective’ membership, which includes 18 bottles of fine English wines annually, exclusive cuvee discounts, culinary experiences, and estate gatherings.

It’s a 20-minute walk through fields to the estate from the nearest station, Plumpton.

Euphoria star Angus Cloud was filmed laughing and smiling with friends on a night out, just three days before his shock death on Monday aged 25. 

The actor, who starred as the drug dealer Fezco O’Neill in the popular HBO series, was found dead at his family’s home in Oakland on Monday, with reports claiming he had struggled with ‘severe suicidal thoughts’ following the passing of his dad.

Angus had been surrounded by friends when he attended the album launch party of MacArthur Maze, a rap group, near his family home in California on Friday.

He was out with the band’s photographer, Josh Kennedy, who he had been a close friend of for years.

According to The Sun, his friends said he attended the party ‘for a few hours and did not show any sign of a personal struggle.’

Josh told the publication: ‘We grew up together. It’s been tough today. Friday, that was the last day I saw him, he came to our record release party.

‘He was happy, very happy to be home. He was in Ireland for a while, we spoke about his dad recently, he was sad about it, but he seemed to be doing okay.

‘I don’t even think he drank [at the event], I didn’t see him drinking, but I don’t know, I was working taking photographs.’

Josh told the site that the evening seemed to be normal and Angus was posing for photographs and was fooling around. 

The photographer admitted he ‘felt sick’ to learn of his friend’s passing and said it’s all ‘so new to him’.

He added that he feels ‘terrible’ for Angus’ mother Lisa Cloud Mclaughlin , who has lost her son and husband in a matter of weeks, 

Angus had paid tribute to his late father on Instagram in one of his final social media posts just two weeks before his tragic death yesterday.

Oakland PD and Fire Department responded to a 911 call made by Cloud’s mother, who reported a ‘possible overdose’ at around 11:30am yesterday, TMZ reported. 

She also said that Cloud did not have a pulse, with the actor pronounced dead on the scene when responders arrived.

Cloud’s father, Conor Hickey, passed away in his native Ireland in May. An obituary written by members of a rugby club with which he was associated claimed he died ‘after a short illness’, without providing further details. 

Lisa and Angus’ late father Conor, were both university professors. They were originally from Ireland, but they relocated to California in the 80s.

The couple shared three children, their eldest Angus, followed by twin daughters Molly and Fiona Hickey.

Angus, just last week returned stateside from Ireland where he laid his father to rest, with sources indicating he holed up with his family in Oakland to try and cope with the grief. 

One of Cloud’s final Instagram posts came on July 14, in which he shared a touching image of his smiling father in a red hoodie and red sweats, stating in the caption, ‘miss u breh.’

Angus’s family confirmed his death in a statement on Monday afternoon.

‘It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.

‘Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend,’ the statement continued. 

‘Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.

‘We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss,’ the statement concluded. 

Tributes quickly flooded in for the actor from Euphoria producers, castmates and fellow actors. 

HBO said in a statement: ‘We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud.

‘He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. 

‘We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.’

Cloud was one of the breakout stars of Euphoria, appearing in both series of the Sam Levinson-directed drama alongside Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi.

He was most often in scenes alongside his partner in crime Ashtray, played by Javon Walton.

Sharing a picture of the pair on Instagram, Walton wrote: ‘Rest easy brother’ and later ‘forever family.’

Meanwhile, Kathrine Narducci, who played Cloud’s on-screen grandmother Marie O’Neill in Euphoria, described him as a ‘gentle beautiful soul’ who ‘exited to soon’ on Twitter.

Storm Reid, who plays Zendaya’s on-screen younger sister Gia Bennett, shared a clip of Cloud laughing on the show to her Instagram Story, captioning it: ‘The tears just won’t stop.’

Euphoria director Levinson said: ‘There was no-one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon.

‘He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression. I hope he knew how many hearts he touched.

‘I loved him. I always will. Rest in peace and God Bless his family.’

Rapper Drake, a producer of Euphoria, shared a photo of Angus from March of 2022 at the Revolve Social Club in LA, writing, ‘Good soul,’ and adding a tearful emoji and a dove.

Kerry Washington shared a photo of Cloud at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party from March 2022, writing, ‘You will be deeply missed’ and ‘Rest in Power.’

Over on Threads, Kerry also urged her followers to reach out for help if needed in the wake of Angus’ death. ‘To whoever needs to hear this. You are not alone,’ she wrote, while sharing a link to 988lifeline.org. 

Sydney Martin, the model who was rumored to be in an on–off relationship with Cloud, also shared what appeared to be a brief tribute to Cloud.

The model, who briefly appeared on a second-season episode of Euphoria, shared a somber message in her Instagram Stories after the news broke.

However, she didn’t reference the late actor, or even include any text at all.

Instead, Martin shared a black background to her Instagram Stories and and placed a set of seven red broken-hearted emojis in a row.

Sydney’s post went live just minutes after Cloud was reported to have died.

Around the time that she shared her broken hearts, she also deleted some more upbeat Instagram Stories posts, according to In Touch. 

Martin was featured in the season two premiere of Euphoria, titled Trying To Get To Heaven Before They Close The Door.

She was credited in the episode simply as ‘bikini girl,’ according to her IMDb page.

Her other acting work includes an uncredited role as a restaurant patron on the FX series Snowfall, as well as another uncredited character simply described as Hot Pocket on the Netflix coming-of-age comedy Never Have I Ever. 

The gossip blog DeuxMoi had previously claimed via anonymous reports that Cloud and Martin were dating. 

Although they had not confirmed their relationship, Sydney shared mirror selfies of herself and Angus beaming while she put a hand around his neck on January 7, 2022, which she captioned, ‘Euphoria is out in 2 days.’

One photo also showed her giving her rumored boyfriend a sweet kiss on the cheek. 

Months before Cloud’s death yesterday, a man who claims to have worked for the actor said he was struggling in his battle with addiction after completing rehab two years ago.

The Twitter thread from a man named Diomi Cordero came in April, Page Six reported, more than three months before Cloud’s passing.

Cordero said he initially crossed paths at a rehab clinic where Cloud was being treated and that he reconvened with the actor July 4, 2021, when Cloud hosted a party at his house, Page Six reported.

Cordero said Cloud was freshly out of rehab at the time, but exhibited signs of being under the influence of drugs.

Cloud was born and raised in Oakland, California, attending the School of Production Design at the Oakland School for the Arts alongside her future castmate Zendaya.

He was discovered by Euphoria casting director Jennifer Venditti while working as a waiter in Brooklyn, which lead to him making his acting debut on the HBO series as the drug dealer Fezco.

He would go on to star in movies such as North Hollywood with Vince Vaughn and Miranda Cosgrove and The Line with Alex Wolff and Halle Bailey, with three more films either filming or in post-production.

Thoughts are with Angus’s mother Lisa who has lost her husband and son in just weeks of one another. 

After losing her husband in May, Lisa wrote: ‘Thanks to all of you for your messages about Conor’s passing.

‘He would have been so honored that so many young people came to express how much they appreciated their support from him.

‘Our home welcomed all our kids “homies”.’

Around 100 people turned up to pay tribute to Conor and she said: ‘My fella lived large and loud! His cancer moved quickly which was devastating to all who loved him, but there is comfort in the fact that his pain wasn’t prolonged.

‘He is the love of my life. He was an incredible father to his three children, and a great support to many many others as well.’

Euphoria actor Angus Cloud has died at 25 at his family’s home in Oakland. 

Cloud’s family told TMZ in a statement Monday, ‘It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today.

‘As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.’

A 911 call was made by Cloud’s mother reporting a ‘possible overdose’ at around 11:30 a.m. Monday, sources told TMZ. She told operators that Cloud didn’t have a pulse, the outlet reported, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. 

A family insider told the outlet that Cloud had dealt with ‘severe suicidal thoughts’ after traveling to Ireland for his father’s funeral; and that he was at his family home in an effort ‘to work though overcoming the grief.’ 

The family in their statement alluded to the recent death of Cloud’s father, and how it impacted him.

‘Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss,’ the family said. ‘The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.’

The family noted that Cloud ‘was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.’

The family requested following Cloud’s passing, ‘We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.’

The family of Cloud, who played Fezco on the HBO series from 2019 through 2022, did not state a cause of death for the actor. 

On July 14, he had shared a post on Instagram of an image of his father with the caption, ‘miss u breh.’

His final post came on July 18 when he showed off a set of grillz from the company Grant Grillz, with the geotag coming from Dublin, Ireland.

A statement from the show’s Twitter page read: ‘We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.’ 

Cloud had past appeared in films such as 2023’s The Line opposite John Malkovich, 2021’s North Hollywood and on the TV series The Perfect Women. 

He also had appeared in music videos for Becky G & Karol G’s Mamii in 2022; and in Juice WRLD’s Cigarettes in 2022.

Cloud had a number of projects in the works, including two unreleased films, according to iMDb, including a horror film titled Your Lucky Day and an Oakland-based drama titled Freaky Tales, starring Pedro Pascal and Ben Mendelsohn.

He was also linked to Scream 6 slated for next year. Production has not yet commenced on season three of Euphoria. 

Cloud did not have any acting experience ahead of his role on Euphoria, as he was discovered by casting scout Eléonore Hendricks while walking in New York City, according to the AP. 

Cloud was initially skeptical of the opportunity, thinking it was a scam, but eventually got the role after meeting with casting director Jennifer Venditti.

Fans of the show lauded Cloud for his authenticity in the role, to an extent that he spoke about the misconceptions people had that he didn’t have to do much when the cameras were on.

‘It does bother me when people are like, ‘It must be so easy! You get to go in and be yourself,”‘ he told Variety. ‘I’m like, “Why don’t you go and do that?” It’s not that simple. I brought a lot to the character. You can believe what you want. It ain’t got nothing to do with me.’

A number of Cloud’s peers in Hollywood took to social media with sad sentiments in memory of the late actor.

Cloud’s Euphoria costar Kathrine Narducci wrote, ‘No words! No words;’ in a separate post, The Sopranos alum called the late actor ‘one of a kind.’ 

Actor Javon Walton, who plays Ashtray on Euphoria, wrote ‘rest easy brother.’

Rapper Drake called the late actor a ‘good soul’ with a teary emoji and an emoji of a dove.

Singer Chloe Bailey wrote, ‘wow angus cloud gone too soon … rest in peace angel.’

Actress Kerry Washington shared a memorial post, writing, ‘You will be deeply missed.’

Influencer Jordyn Woods shared a shot she took with the late Euphoria actor. She added, ‘I have this art piece he made me on a water bottle and I’ll keep it forever.’ 

Across social media, a number of fans grieved for the actor’s premature passing, remarking on the authenticity and charisma he brought to his work.

‘NOT ANGUS CLOUD PLS :(,’ one user said. ‘This is the most heartbreaking thing ever. a true talent has been lost. angus cloud you will ALWAYS be remembered, this is truly the worst news. our fezco always.’

Another commented, ‘Angus Cloud came into Euphoria with no acting experience and then effortlessly created the show’s most charming character.

‘He had a long career ahead of him, but Fez alone will be an iconic character for generations. I hope he’s at peace now.’

Some users drew parallels to his passing and the death of rapper Mac Miller at 26 in September of 2018.

‘Losing Angus Cloud is bringing back a certain feeling I had when we first heard about Mac Miller passing….’ one user said. 

Another remarked, ‘I wanted so badly to see Angus Cloud play as Mac Miller in a Biopic. Damn. RIP to them both. Both died TOO young.’
