The CIA is set to launch its own ChatGPT-style AI tool to help sift through mountains of data for clues in ongoing investigations.

Intended to mirror the famed OpenAI tech, the Central Intelligence Agency’s latest initiative will use artificial intelligence to help analysts better access open-source intelligence, agency officials said.

The CIA’s Open Source Enterprise division developed the tech, which is also intended to be rolled out across the US government’s 18 intelligence agencies in an effort to rival China‘s growing intelligence capabilities.

‘We’ve gone from newspapers and radio, to newspapers and television, to newspapers and cable television, to basic internet, to big data, and it just keeps going,’ said Randy Nixon, director of the CIA’s AI division.

Nixon noted that analyzing the level of data across the web is a significant challenge that the AI program would help handle, adding: ‘We have to find the needles in the needle field.’

The push to add artificial intelligence to the US military and intelligence apparatus comes amid mounting pressure to compete with China’s advancing potency on the world stage.

In particular, China is feared to be stretching well ahead in the race to command artificial intelligence and is seeking to become the global leader by 2030, according to Bloomberg

In an ominous glimpse into the nation’s use of the programs, in 2021 China developed a ‘prosecutor’ that could identify and press charges with a reported 97 percent accuracy.

In contrast, America’s law enforcement sphere has also come under fire for struggling to utilize the power of AI in investigations, but Nixon said the new program will aid in condensing the unprecedented levels of information floating through the web.

Among the CIA’s new capabilities under the AI tool will be the capacity to see the original source of any information that they are viewing.

Nixon added that, like ChatGPT, the program will see agents use a chat feature to receive information as succinctly as possible.

‘Then you can take it to the next level and start chatting and asking questions of the machines to give you answers, also sourced,’ he continued.

‘Our collection can just continue to grow and grow with no limitations other than how much things cost.’

Nixon was drafted in as the CIA’s new Open Source Enterprise director in January, where he was expected to ‘speed up the agency’s development in open source intelligence just as the field is causing increasing concern and sparking rivalry in Washington’, according to Intelligence Online

China’s embrace of artificial intelligence has worried some that America could be left behind, with the nation even introducing an AI news anchor earlier this year.

To make up its ever-growing AI operation, his division will reportedly draw in information from publicly and commercially available sources.

However, the push to implement AI into intelligence gathering comes at a time when experts are still unsure of the technology’s red flags, including the potential for the CIA’s information to be accessed in the open internet.

While it won’t be made available for Washington lawmakers, Nixon said the program will be rolled out across all 18 of the US government’s intelligence agencies, including the FBI, the NSA, and all military branches.

In August, the Defense Department launched a task force to explore using the tech, including a view to better understanding its downsides.

Months before in May, the director of the NSA, Gilbert Herrera, told Bloomberg that the intelligence community was still trying to ‘find a way to take benefit of these large models without violating privacy.’

In the announcement of the new AI initiative, the CIA reportedly did not detail how it would protect the information it gathers from the seemingly vulnerable technology, nor which model it would use.

Nevertheless, Nixon stressed the need to keep up with the unrelenting amount of data streaming throughout the internet.

‘The scale of how much we collect and what we collect on has grown astronomically over the last 80-plus years,’ he said. ‘So much so that this could be daunting and at times unusable for our consumers.’

He added that the Ai tool would help analysts work like never before, because ‘where the machines are pushing you the right information, one where the machine can auto-summarize, group things together.’

Mohammed bin Salman has admitted ‘mistakes’ over the killing of US-based journalist and critic Jamal Khashoggi.

In a wide-ranging interview with Fox News, the 38-year-old controversial Crown Prince said he was reforming the kingdom’s security system to avoid such ‘mistakes’ in the future.

‘It was a mistake. It was painful,’ the crown prince said, while insisting that ‘everyone involved’ served jail time.

‘We try to reform the security system to be sure that these kind of mistakes doesn’t happen again, and we can see in the past five years nothing of those things happened. It’s not part of what Saudi Arabia do.

‘We take all the legal measurements that any country took… We did that in Saudi Arabia and the case being closed,’ MbS said.

Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist who wrote for the Washington Post and was critical of the Saudi government was brutally murdered on October 2, 2018, inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, in a case that sparked international outrage.

Biden vowed to make Saudi Arabia a ‘pariah’ over the killing while campaigning for president in 2020 after multiple international intelligence agencies pointed to MbS’ involvement in the murder.

But he has since bowed to that reality, patching up relations with the Crown Prince while seeking his help in controlling oil prices and managing other regional issues.

In a wide-ranging interview with Fox News , the controversial Crown Prince also admitted 'mistakes' over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and warned that his country will get nukes if Iran does

MbS was also questioned about the possibility of Iran eventually creating a nuclear weapon, and he confirmed that if Iran were to begin building an arsenal, Saudi Arabia would seek to do the same. (Pictured: an alleged Iranian military bunker)

The Biden administration released a declassified report by U.S. intelligence concluding that MbS ‘approved’ the operation that killed Khashoggi – but took no action against the crown prince himself.

MbS was also questioned about the possibility of Iran eventually creating a nuclear weapon, and he confirmed that if Iran were to begin building an arsenal, Saudi Arabia would seek to do the same.

‘We are concerned if any country getting a nuclear weapon: That’s a bad, that’s a bad move,’ he said. ‘They don’t need to get nuclear weapon because you cannot use it.’

When asked how he would respond to Iran securing a nuke, he said: ‘If they get one we have to get one’.

That has worried nuclear nonproliferation experts, who say the U.S. granting the kingdom the ability to enrich uranium itself could fuel a regional arms race.

During the interview with Baier, MbS also said he doesn’t see an issue with a Saudi Arabian wealth fund injecting $2billion into Jared Kushner’s private equity – despite his family links to former president Donald Trump.

Six months after Trump left the White House in 2020, his son-in-law and former senior adviser Kushner secured a $2 billion investment from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) led by MbS.

When asked whether this created a conflict of interest – and if the royal family would pull the money should Donald Trump win re-election – MbS said ‘if it’s legal, what’s the problem?’

‘We look for opportunities in investment,’ he said. ‘We have a lot of investment around the globe with a lot of people with economic opportunity.’

On whether the $2billion would remain with Kushner even if Trump becomes president again, MbS answered in the affirmative.

‘It’s a commitment that PIF have and when PIF have a commitment with any investor around the globe, we keep it,’ he said.

Pushed on whether he recognized that this could create a conflict of interest, he said: ‘Saudi Arabia is so big, so I’m quite sure mostly any person around the world directly or indirectly you have something to do with Saudi Arabia.

‘So if that can affect President Trump’s decision if he becomes a President, that means it can affect every president in the world and every person in the world’s decision.

‘Because directly and indirectly they have some sort of interest in something to do with Saudi Arabia.’

The other major topic on the agenda was Saudi Arabia’s efforts to improve bilateral relations with Israel.

Saudi Arabia is discussing a major agreement with the United States to normalize relations with Israel in exchange for a U.S. defense pact and aid in developing its own civilian nuclear program.

But the Saudis have said any deal would require major progress toward the creation of a Palestinian state, which is a hard sell for the most religious and nationalist government in Israel’s history.

‘For us, the Palestinian issue is very important. We need to solve that part,’ MbS told Baer.

‘We got to see where we go,’ the prince said. ‘We hope that will reach a place, that it will ease the life of the Palestinians, get Israel as a player in the Middle East.’

He also denied reports that the talks had been suspended, saying ‘every day, we get closer.’

The interview aired shortly after President Biden met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while both were in New York for the meeting of the U.N. General Assembly.

Biden raised concerns about the far-right Israeli government’s treatment of the Palestinians and urged Netanyahu to take steps to improve conditions in the West Bank at a time of heightened violence in the occupied territory.

Netanyahu’s office said the meeting ‘mostly dealt with ways to establish an historic peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia, which could greatly advance an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict and facilitate the establishment of an economic corridor to link Asia, the Middle East and Europe.’

Asked during the interview about working with someone as conservative as Netanyahu, Prince Mohammed said: ‘If we have a breakthrough, reaching a deal that gives the Palestinians their needs and (making) the region calm, we’ve got to work with whoever’s there.

The CIA was actively involved in getting signatures for the letter from 51 intelligence officials discrediting Hunter Biden‘s laptop as disinformation, according to bombshell Republican report set to be released Wednesday.

The House Judiciary Committee is set to unveil a report titled: The Hunter Biden Statement: How Senior Intelligence Community Officials and the Biden Campaign Worked to Mislead American Voters. It alleges that the letter ‘was a political operation to help elect’ Joe Biden in November 2022.

It alleges that a CIA employee ‘may have helped in the effort to solicit signatures for the statement’ and accuses former Deputy CIA director and Acting CIA Director Mike Morell and the Biden campaign of conspiring to quickly get the letter approved.

The letter that was signed by 51 intel officials in 2020 falsely claimed that Hunter Biden’s laptop had all the ‘classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.’

The latest revelation in the probes into Hunter comes a day before Republicans on the Oversight Committee are set to give an update on the Biden family’s ‘shady’ business deals.

One signer of the statement, former CIA analyst David Cariens, ‘disclosed to the Committees that a CIA employee affiliated with the agency’s Prepublication Classification Review Board (PCRB) informed him of the existence of the statement and asked if he would sign it,’ the House investigative report notes.

The CIA employee allegedly ‘asked’ Cariens if he would sign the statement, to which he agreed.

‘The Committees have requested additional material from the CIA, which has ignored the request to date,’ the report continues.

On October 19, 2020, Morell allegedly sent the CIA the final version of the letter to the Prepublication Classification Review for review and called it a ‘rush job’ so it could be approved.

The new report, which will be published Wednesday in conjunction with the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, also reveals that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper provided editorial advice to ‘strengthen the verbiage.’

Biden and his campaign at the time cited the letter to discredit Hunter Biden’s laptop as a ‘Russian disinformation campaign’

On October 18, emails included in the report show Clapper emailing Morrell his intention to sign onto the letter.

He also offered a key phrase to include, writing: ‘I have one editorial suggestion for the letter: I think it would strengthen the verbiage if you say this has all the classic earmarks of a Soviet/Russian information operation rather than the ‘feel’ of a Russian operation.

Morrell replied that Clapper’s suggestion was accepted and ‘It was a good one.’

Morrell recently testified before the House Judiciary Committee that an Oct. 17 call with Biden’s current Secretary of State Antony Blinken had ‘absolutely’ triggered his interest in coordinating the letter.

However, Blinken insisted last week that he was not behind the infamous letter, insisting that he doesn’t ‘do politics.’

‘One of the great benefits of this job is that I don’t do politics, don’t engage in it,’ the secretary of State said. ‘But with regard to that letter -it wasn’t my idea, I didn’t ask for it, didn’t solicit it,’ Blinken said on Fox News.

At the time he was allegedly behind the letter Blinken was not secretary of state but a Biden campaign adviser.

Asked by Fox News on if he accepted the laptop’s legitimacy after most major news organizations have verified it, Blinken said he would not talk politics.

‘I’m not not engaging in politics. I’ve got a lot on my agenda. Some things that we just talked about, trying to help the Russian aggression against engaging with our allies, partners around the world and dealing with some of the challenges posed by China. We have a situation now in Sudan, this has fully occupied my time.’

Biden and his campaign at the time cited the letter to discredit Hunter Biden’s laptop as a ‘Russian disinformation campaign.’

The then-presidential candidate cited it during a debate with Trump just a few days after its publication on October 22, 2020 to deflect scrutiny of his son’s alleged foreign influence peddling schemes.

Then-Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said at the time that Hunter’s laptop was actually ‘not part of a Russian disinformation campaign’ and had made that clear to the FBI and the larger intelligence community.

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan and House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner sent a letter to Blinken last week telling him that they were examining the letter.

‘As part of our oversight, we have learned that you played a role in the inception of this statement while serving as a Biden campaign advisor, and we therefore request your assistance with our oversight.’

The Biden campaign ‘took active measures to discredit the allegations about Hunter Biden by exploiting the national security credentials of former intelligence officials,’ the report also states.
