Britney Spears joyously wed her longtime partner Sam Asghari last June after five years of dating, most of which occurred during her now terminated 13-year conservatorship.

But, just 14 months after tying the knot, Britney, 41, and Sam, 29, have split.

Below is a history of Britney’s relationships going back to her earliest days as a rising performer.

Donald ‘Reg’ Jones (1995–1997)

Britney got her first official boyfriend, Reg Jones, when she was only 14 and he was 17.

In Lynne Spears’ 2008 memoir Through The Storm, Britney’s mother claimed that it was actually Jones whom her daughter lost her virginity to, not her future boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

In 2001, Jones put up two letter than the singer had written him while she was a teen, include one in which she broke up with him.

Justin Timberlake (1998–2002)

Britney’s first serious relationship was with her former Mickey Mouse Club costar Justin Timberlake, who was then part of NSYNC.

Following their 2002 split, the singer publicly blamed Spears for their break up and used his ‘heartbreak’ to promote his music. A lookalike actress was also used to represent Spears in his video for Cry Me A River, which fans took to be a breakup song about their relationship.

Timberlake later wrote in an open apology that he was ‘deeply sorry’ and would ‘take accountability’ admitting that he had ‘failed’ her, after their relationship came under fresh scrutiny following the release of documentaries looking into Spears’ conservatorship. 

Wade Robson (2002)

The Toxic singer reportedly moved on in the wake of her split from Timberlake with choreographer Wade Robson, who worked for both her and Justin’s group NSYNC. 

Although it was never been confirmed by any of the trio, at the time it was rumoured that Wade was the real reason for the Justin and Britney split. 

Yet their relationship was short lived and Britney and Wade had split within the year.

Fred Durst (2003)

After the breakup with Robson, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst claimed that he dated Britney, though she denied that they ever had a relationship.

The couple spent time together when working on songs for Britney’s new album.  

‘It just became a fiasco of madness,’ Durst told MTV of the alleged breakup. ‘[But] I always stay true to my heart and true to everything I did and my intentions, and I am in no way a liar.’

Jared Leto (2003) 

Britney was also rumored around this time to have dated Jared Leto, but he never confirmed the alleged romance and she denied that they were eve ran item.

After they were seen together, she said they were just ‘really good friends.’ 

The dating rumours started after fans theorised that Spears had gone after Leto because he was Cameron Diaz’s ex and Diaz, at the time, was dating Spears’ ex Timberlake.  

Colin Farrell (2003)

There was clearly something going on between Britney and actor Colin Farrell in 2003, when they were seen kissing at the premiere of his film The Recruit, where they also walked the red carpet.

However, he shrugged the affectionate display off and said he was ‘just a 26-year-old guy who’s single and having a good time.’

While their fling may only have lasted a week, Farrell memorialized their relationship by sending Spears a shirt that read: ‘I slept with Colin Farrell and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.’

Columbus Short (2003)

Britney dated within her own organization when she hooked up with her backup dance Columbus Short in 2003.

Short, who subsequently starred on Scandal, later claimed that he overheard Spears’ parents Lynne and Jamie Spears refer to him by the N-word when she was on speaker phone with them, though he didn’t specify who said it and they both denied using the word.

Columbus claimed to have only had sex with her once, and he claimed he was fired after he failed to reciprocate her affections. 

Jason Alexander (2004)

Britney’s first (brief) marriage was to Jason Alexander, who had been her friend since childhood. He ended up crashing her wedding to Sam on the morning of the nuptials. 

The couple tied the knot on a whim in the early morning hours on January 3, 2004 during a ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were both 22 years old at the time.

Their marriage was annulled 55 hours later, which Alexander later claimed was forced by Britney’s mother, Lynne, and Britney’s management. Following the annulment, Spears said in an interview: ‘It was me being silly, being rebellious.’ 

Yet 18 years after their union it seems Alexander hasn’t lost his feelings for Spears, as just hours before she was was due to marry her long-term partner Sam Asghari, 28, at her home Alexander broke onto the premises to crash the wedding. 

Britney’s first husband Jason Alexander has been booked in to jail after dramatically livestreaming himself crashing her wedding at her Thousand Oaks mansion.   

Jason is now in the custody of the Ventura Sheriff’s Department having been charged with trespassing, vandalism and two batteries after a couple of altercations with Britney’s security guards.

Minutes before he was apprehended, Alexander managed to broadcast himself on Instagram as he ran through hillside trails, as he approached the rear of Spears’ home.

The 40-year-old was easily able to scale a fence, descend a rocky hillside and slip inside the wedding venue, all-the-while telling security exactly who he was, and why he was there – just hours before the fairytale ceremony got underway.

Alexander’s arrest is the third arrest in 13 months. Police sources revealed he also has a felony warrant for larceny in another county.

He was last in police custody for driving under the influence in January 2021 and breaking security protocols at an airport in August. Alexander was also arrested previously for violating an order of protection and stalking an unidentified woman in December 2021.

On Thursday night, Spears’ attorney revealed he was ‘absolutely livid’ after Alexander crashed the pop star’s wedding venue and demanded he be locked up.

Kevin Federline (2004–2007)

The songstress’ next relationship also resulted in a marriage. 

Britney and Kevin Federline, a backup dancer, would go on to share her two sons: Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15.

The couple divorced in 2007, and it was her struggles with custody that factored into the creation of her conservatorship.

In January 2008, she locked herself in a bathroom with the children when it was time to return them to their father. The police were subsequently called, and Spears was put on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

J. R. Rotem (2007)

Spears hit the dating scene quickly following her divorce when she got together with the music producer J. R. Rotem, who produced her song Everybody. 

Following their fling, Rotem shocked with a graphic kiss and tell interview, crudely announcing ‘I f**ked Britney wheelbarrow style – It was tractor style.’ 

Reflecting on their union, Rotem later said: ‘It was kind of a stupid phase I was going through, where I wouldn’t say that I was being a bad person but I would say that I was being not very genuine to who I am and what it is that I’m supposed to do.’ 

Isaac Cohen (2007)

In the same year as her fling with Rotem, Spears began dating male model Isaac Cohen.

At the time, her fans noted that Cohen noted only looked like her ex-husband Kevin, but he even favored similar clothing to the dancer. 

Their breakup was described as ‘amicable,’ and Cohen later said of their relationship: ‘By the time I met Britney she was burnt out. She knew she had been drinking and partying as a way to try to banish the bad stuff from her life. 

‘Far from the trashy drunk, I saw a very shy, sweet girl who was just desperately sad about what had happened with her marriage.’ 

Howie Day (2007)

Britney reportedly met the singer–songwriter Howie Day while both were at the Promises rehab center in Malibu.

Life & Style reported at the time that Britney’s mother Lynne was concerned about the relationship, which didn’t last long.

Spears’ second husband K Fed also didn’t approve of the relationship, branding Day ‘trash,’ and adding that Britney had to ‘head to the dump’ to meet Day while in rehab. 

Adnan Ghalib (2007–2008)

The pop star shocked her fans and family when she began dating the paparazzo Adnan Ghalib in 2007, despite the fact that he had long been on her tail hunting for the perfect photo.

Ghalib claimed in 2008 that he had a sex tape featuring Spears in an apparent bid to shop it around, though he later claimed his statements were fabricated, according to The Daily Beast. 

Britney’s father Jamie successful won a restraining order to keep Ghalib away from his daughter by claiming that the photographer alerted paparazzi to Britney’s whereabouts and then got a fee from them. 

Jason Trawick (2009–2013)

One of Spears’ longest relationship was with her former agent, Jason Trawick. 

In 2021, rumors spread claiming the two had secretly married and then divorce in 2012 after records showing her conservatorship put a lawyer on retainer shortly before their 2013 breakup.

However, Trawick denied that they were ever married, and no marriage license — or divorce — was ever filed. 

David Lucado (2013–2014)

Britney and David Lucado began dating shortly after her split from Trawick, though the relationship only lasted about a year. 

According to TMZ, Britney dumped Lucado after she discovered a video showing Lucado ‘making out with a woman and dancing with her.’  

Lucado didn’t take the split well, with a representative telling TMZ: ‘David is very, very in love with Britney. This is unfortunate and he hopes that it all works out.’ 

Charlie Ebsersol (2014–2015)

Spears continued to date within the entertainment industry, though her new boyfriend Charlie Ebersol was a film and television producer.

Speaking about their romance Spears said at the time: ‘I thought he was really adorable and she said he was good to people, so I went for it… There was something about him that made me feel really peaceful and at ease.’

Sources claimed to Hollywood Life after their breakup that the two separated after Britney’s father Jamie suggested he wasn’t a good match for her. 

Sam Asghari (2016–2023) 

Sam Asghari, an aspiring actor, has been by the pop star’s side since 2016, making their relationship her longest to date.

She met Sam in 2016 when he appeared in her Slumber Party music video, and the two quickly hit it off after that.

They went Instagram official in January 2017, and Sam was by her side amid the battle to end her long-running conservatorship.

Spears announced their engagement on September 12, 2021, and she followed the good news up by having her conservatorship terminated in November of that year.

In April 2022, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, but Britney revealed just a month later that she had suffered a miscarriage.

‘Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news,’ she wrote on Instagram. 

They married on June 9 2022 at her Thousand Oaks home in a ceremony attended by Madonna.

The pair’s split was revealed in August 2023. 

 

 

Britney’s on the brink as never before.

Following the bombshell announcement that Spears and husband Sam Asghari are divorcing, sources say Britney is deeply unwell, unstable and all alone.

Her mother Lynne Spears, according to an insider, is ‘furious’ at Asghari for leaving her daughter in such a precarious state and is now desperate for Britney to move in with her.

‘Family and friends feel it is truly at the point of life and death,’ the source told DailyMail.com. ‘The last thing anyone wants to do is to put her into another conservatorship.’

For here’s the catch: Britney was freed from her controversial conservatorship after nearly 14 years in November 2021. Her case was so consequential that California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law in 2022 enacting new limitations requiring judges to document every possible alternative before issuing one.

The implication, says this source, is that things are so dire the family would petition for another conservatorship if they could.

Compounding Britney’s troubles, Asghari is allegedly threatening to release ‘extraordinarily embarrassing information’ unless she renegotiates their prenup.

Long before Asghari issued an insolent ‘Sh*t happens’, on Instagram Thursday, saying that he and Brit ‘will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other… I wish her the best always,’ the leaks had already began.

Allegations that Britney cheated with a household staff member — caught on video — and that she physically assaulted her husband quickly surfaced. 

If Asghari truly wishes his troubled wife the best, why not take whatever riches he amassed during this brief marriage and slink away quietly? Why add to her misery? 

Britney Spears, 41, once the most famous pop star on the planet, is — save for household staff — very much on her own.

Her teenage sons now live with their father in Hawaii.

The publicized recent rapprochement with sister Jamie Lynn may not have been a success. ‘Britney is still very angry with Jamie Lynn,’ a source told Page Six.

DailyMail.com reported on Thursday that they’re working on their relationship.

Britney’s mother visited her in May, but ‘there’s still a lot of hurt there,’ the Page Six source said, ‘so they haven’t quite reconciled.’

And, of course, her father Jamie, who oversaw Britney’s conservatorship and paid himself $16,000 a month out of his daughter’s estate for at least 12 years, is fully estranged.

Has there been a sadder, lonelier star in recent memory?

Asghari, it seems, is just the latest man to take advantage of Spears, who — despite her wealth, fame and beauty — has spent the bulk of her adult life in crisis. Until the #FreeBritney movement, she was the butt of one long, cruel joke: How low can this bimbo go?

She began publicly unraveling in 2007: Shaving her head, attacking a paparazzo’s vehicle with an umbrella, strolling into gas station bathrooms barefoot, photographed without her underwear, nearly dropping her baby and later driving with him on her lap.

It all culminated in a standoff with police after she barricaded herself and her child in a bathroom, leading to her involuntary hospitalization.

She was only 26 years old, met not with compassion but revulsion and mockery.

Her mental collapse coincided with the birth and explosion of celebrity blogs, none more popular and mean-spirited than Perez Hilton’s.

When Heath Ledger died in 2008, Hilton — who has since apologized — made t-shirts that read: ‘Why couldn’t it have been Britney?’

That same year, an episode of ‘Family Feud’ featured a game called ‘Name Something Britney Spears Has Lost in the Past Year.’

The contestants pounced: ‘Her husband’; ‘her hair’; ‘her sanity’. 

Cheers and laughter and applause. 

‘I’ll give you the Salt Lake City answer,’ said a contestant named Mike. ‘Her virginity.’ 

Other responses: Her career, her underwear, respect, dignity, her children, weight. Her fans. 

Truly, America laughed.

To look at photos of Britney back then, bald and miserable, is to recall no one so much as another complicated, talented star we just lost: Sinéad O’Connor. 

But Sinéad’s suffering, in her later years, was more private. Perhaps that’s why her death last month, at age 56, felt like such a shock. 

Britney’s suffering has almost always been public. It can feel, alternately, like a cry for help and just her native way of being — famous for so long that she knows nothing else. 

Perhaps that’s why those closest to her are speaking out, making it clear that they want to help her without institutionalizing her.

The Britney we’ve seen post-conservatorship has been a regression: Posting videos to social media in which she’s unkempt, barely dressed, dancing on a stripper pole, chasing a newly-minted NBA star through a Las Vegas hotel lobby and getting swatted away by his security. Losing her sons.

Now she’s looking at an ugly divorce from a 29-year-old showbiz wannabe who, rather than keeping the gory details of her life private, allegedly threatens to release them if he doesn’t get a hefty payout.

No one thinks marriage to Britney would be easy. But Asghari had been with her for six years, pre and post-conservatorship. You can’t say he didn’t know what he was getting into.

Now he’s playing the good-guy and it’s all rather seamy. Exploitative. Kicking someone when they’re down.

‘Saving Britney,’ a source close to Asghari told DailyMail.com, is now unlikely. 

What a terrible thing to say. How hubristic of him to think that he could do it. 

‘The reality of life with Britney was that it was not fun,’ said the source, ‘and it’s not a surprise at all that the marriage didn’t last.’ 

Of course it wasn’t fun. Life with a woman, sexualized and commodified at a young age, surrounded by people who mostly ever wanted something from her — money, fame, reflected glory — was never going to be simple.

Last year, Ashari took to social media to defend Britney. ‘I have respect her privacy and I protect it at all times,’ he said.

What a hypocrite.

I’d like to see Asghari have his life dissected like a cadaver, every mistake or embarrassment or family fight or psychiatric illness parceled out for entertainment, betrayed by those closest to him, and still marshall the resources to survive it. For decades.

A weaker person would have been done in by half of this stuff.

So hold a good thought for Britney Jean Spears. She’s saved herself before. May she do it again.

Britney Spears appears to be taking steps to repair her broken relationship with her sister Jamie Lynn Spears.

The 41-year-old pop superstar revealed in an Instagram post on Tuesday that she had she had recently visited the 32-year-old actress ‘on set last week.’

She didn’t specify the project that Jamie Lynn was working on, and it is unclear if the filming was related to her upcoming Zoey 102 movie, which released its first trailer earlier on Tuesday.

Although much of the sisters’ relationship has remained hidden from the public, the two appear to have been feuding in recent years, particularly after the ‘Free Britney’ movement gained a higher profile and Spears succeeded in having her years-long conservatorship ended.

Britney’s sweet family reunion was revealed in the caption of her post, while the video showed her dancing on a boat as she celebrated her first vacation with husband Sam Asghari ‘in a year.’ 

‘It was nice to visit my sister on set last week !!! I’ve missed you guys so much !!!’ Britney gushed at the start of her caption. ‘Loyal girls stay home but it’s so nice to visit family !!!’ 

The video featured Britney showing off her svelte figure in a hot pink bikini while covering her long blond hair with a floppy brown hat. 

She beamed ear to ear while dancing with a pal. In one playful section, she turned around to dance and highlight her derriere while her husband Sam Asghari smoked a cigar, before he gave her a playful slap on her rear end.

‘This is me and Hesam’s first vacation in a year !!!’ she said, using Sam’s full name. ‘I’m so so blessed and l’m gonna play the queen of hearts now !!! Normally that’s Spanish right mamma  !!! Should I do French from now on ??? Latin ??? Portuguese or German ??? Nahh I dunno  because I don’t speak English !!!’ she joked.

The Toxic singer sounded fairly nonchalant about the reunion, which came after she repeated lambasted her sister on social media in recent years.

The sisters were apparently close earlier in the 2000s, when Britney was at the top of her game and Jamie Lynn emerged from her shadow to star on the Nickelodeon show Zoey 101.

The younger star subsequently left her show and took an extended hiatus from acting in 2007, when she announced that she was pregnant at just 16.

As recently as 2017, Britney was joking on social media about what a great time she had when she was with her little sister.

But the two appeared to have reached a breaking point in April of that year, when Britney was awarded the first Icon Award at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.

Jamie Lynn was among the performers paying tribute to her, and she sang an excerpt of her big sister’s single Till The World Ends.

Britney’s smile looks particularly forced in footage of her watching her sister — who was also joined on stage by Hailee Steinfeld, Kelsea Ballerini and Sofia Carson — and she complained years later that she was upset that her sister had performed one of her songs.

‘I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes,’ she complained in a since-deleted post, though it wasn’t clear if her concerns about the remixes were that the original song had been polluted, or that she wanted to perform her own updates of her tunes.

‘My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams .. so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try,’ she added.

After the Free Britney movement got into full swing later in the decade, Jamie expressed concerns about it in 2019 in a tweet featuring a video of Britney being mobbed by overzealous fans and photographers from years earlier.

’10 years ago, who was there?? I have been here long before anyone else and I’ll be here long after,’ she wrote. ‘I love my sister with everything I have. So anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don’t understand.’

Her defensive post came after some of Britney’s most obsessive fans publicly asked her younger sister to more vociferously defend her in public.

The Free Britney movement wasn’t pleased a year later, when Jamie Lynn was reported to be a trustee to Britney’s estate by the Los Angeles Times.

At the time, she had publicly revealed herself to be a trustee in a court filing requesting that some of Britney’s vast fortune be moved into accounts that she would oversee, which could later only be moved with a judge’s sign off.

However, Jamie Lynn later claimed that she was not on ‘the payroll.’

The tensions between the sister were impossible to ignore after Britney’s conservatorship hearing on June 24, 2021, in which she said that she never knew she could ask to end her conservatorship.

She also made the shocking claim that the conservatorship wasn’t allowing her to get married to her partner Sam Asghari, and she also accused the arrangement of preventing her from having children with him. She claimed that she was not allowed to have an IUD contraceptive removed in order to get pregnant.

Britney seemed to point fingers at her family, and though she didn’t explicitly single out her sister, she didn’t do anything to separate her from her mother Lynne and father Jamie Spears, both of whom she had publicly feuded with.

‘Anyone involved in this conservatorship, and my management who played a huge role in punishing me [should] be in jail,’ Spears said during the hearing. ‘And I would honestly like to sue my family, to be totally honest with you.’

The sisters went on to snipe at each other on social media throughout the rest of the year, and the passive-aggressive posts only got worse after news broke that Jamie Lynn was set to release a memoir, which initially was titled I Must Confess, which referenced Britney’s mega-hit …Baby One More Time.

The two largely stopped referring to each other throughout much of 2022, and Britney only referenced Jamie Lynn in December of last year with a seemingly conciliatory Instagram post for her 41st birthday.

‘It’s my b-day but you’re my heart so I’m thinking about you,’ she wrote while posting two photos of Jamie Lynn. ‘Congratulations on being so brave, inspiring, and showing guts and glory in your show !!! You ain’t alone … if anybody knows what that feels like … I get it. My baby sister !!! I love you !!!’

It’s unclear what happened between the sisters during the past year to change Britney’s tone, but Britney’s recent reunion and reconciliation with her mother Lynne Spears may have helped.

Earlier this week, a source revealed to DailyMail.com that Lynne had been urging her oldest daughter to bury the hatchet with Jamie Lynn.

‘Lynne is begging Britney to make amends with her sister Jamie Lynn now,’ the insider shared. ‘They are both leaning towards a yes. Lynne knows that Britney does miss her sister and she told her that the feeling is obviously mutual.’

But, the source added, it’s going to take some convincing to bring Britney around to the idea of a truce with her estranged sister — and an apology from Jamie Lynn.  

‘Britney still feels that Jamie Lynn is the one who messed up and, if they are going to meet, she would need to come to her and not vise versa,’ the source revealed, adding: ‘Lynne is figuring out now how to make this happen, but she is not going to rest until everything is perfect again.’ 

After three years of estrangement, Lynne flew from Kentwood, Louisiana, to Los Angeles in May to pay a surprise visit to Britney at her home in Thousand Oaks. 

The stage mom’s efforts proved to be worth it, as they sat down for 30 minutes and were able to hash out their issues and undue the damage that was caused by the horrific 13-year conservatorship that Britney was forced into by her father, Jamie Spears, 70.

The insider said that Britney and Lynne ‘have been in constant communication since.’

A separate source close to the situation tells DailyMail.com that — although Lynne is determined to reunite her girls — she is trying her best to ease into the situation by taking it one day at a time. 

‘Lynne knows that it still will take time to get back on the same page and fall into all the right places their relationship needs to be. 

‘But she loves Britney more than anything and clearing up the wounds of the past is something she has strived to achieve for a long time,’ the family confidante added. 

‘Lynne also understands that there is more of a process to go through, but she is showing 100 percent effort to make sure that her own relationship with Britney continues to strengthen. 

‘With all of the drama that they have dealt with in the last couple of years with each other, Lynne’s recent meeting with Britney was a promising step in the right direction for better days ahead,’ the insider told DailyMail.com. 

On November 12, 2021, Britney was freed from a 13-year conservatorship that she was placed in by her father Jamie, 70 —  who, she claims, mentally and emotionally abused her for financial gain.

Britney Spears‘ upcoming autobiography is reportedly being delayed over concerns about some of the A-list stars she mentions in it.

Its publisher, Simon & Schuster, has put the book on holding after receiving letters from two Hollywood stars, The Sun reported on Sunday.

The 41-year-old pop superstar was previously expected to have released her tell-all book back in February, but it now isn’t expected to arrive any sooner than late this year.

DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Spears for comment.

The news of the potentially salacious content follows a report that Glee and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy is interested in creating a ‘tell-all show’ — with Spears’ approval — that would delve into her years living under a restrictive conservatorship.

So far, it’s unclear which famous people have contacted the publisher over the book.

However, Simon & Schuster is reportedly in talks with its legal team over how to proceed with the book’s production.

‘Britney is brutally honest in the book — there are a lot of nervous A-listers,’ claimed a source. ‘Strongly worded legal letters have been sent to the publishers by people who know Britney and who fear what she has written.’

It’s unclear if the people who wrote letters to the publisher had confirmed that they were mentioned in the book, or if they took that step proactively.

Regardless, the development has slowed the autobiography’s momentum.

‘There is no movement at the moment and there are concerns over when it will eventually be able to come out,’ the source added. 

Spears has enlisted the journalist Sam Lansky, who has previously written a memoir about his struggles with drug abuse in his teen years, along with a debut novel, Broken People, which was published in 2020.

Page Six previously reported that Spears had earned a $15 million advance for her autobiography. 

In addition to potentially covering earlier romances, the book will be covering the trials and tribulations Spears experience under her conservatorship, which had been primarily managed by her father Jamie Spears, 70, until the arrangement was ended for good by a judge in November of 2021. 

The Toxic singer is also expected to share details about her relationship and subsequent marriage to the aspiring actor Sam Asghari, 29.

Fans recently expressed concern over the fate of their marriage after Spears took a trip to Hawaii without her husband last month. During the getaway she was spotted multiple times without her wedding ring on.

‘Britney wants this to be her moment she talks to the world, to tell her side of the story and set the record straight,’ the source continued.

‘There’s a fair amount of throwing people under the bus, talking about past relationships, some of whom will be revealed for the first time ever.’

Although the singer–songwriter has led a widely publicized life, the source added that ‘there are relationships and people she had encounters with who she managed to keep under the radar, including some massive film star names and people from the music world.’

‘She has wanted to go all out with this book and tell her truth, and that’s what has people worried,’ they concluded. 

The latest report on Spears’ delayed book came after a source told The Sun that TV superproducer Ryan Murphy was interested in creating a series about her time living under her conservatorship.

Murphy, who allegedly ‘hates being accused of exploiting victims,’ is hoping to get Spears on board as producer, after he did the same thing with Monica Lewinsky when making Impeachment: American Crime Story, which detailed the former White House intern’s relationship with former President Bill Clinton.

‘Ryan is openly fascinated by the Britney saga and of course, he is one of the few filmmakers in Hollywood, maybe the only one, really, with a professional relationship with Britney,’ a source said. 

‘He knows her, he knows her world and he knows why the story of her conservatorship resonated with so many people.

‘But Ryan hates being accused of exploiting victims and tragedies in his shows so this becomes an incredibly delicate matter, and not something he would even consider pushing forward without Britney’s full co-sign.’

However, the source claimed he hasn’t reached out to the singer and would only do the show if she was ‘comfortable’ with it.

Britney Spears‘ conservatorship drama could be turned into a tell-all docuseries, according to a new report.

The singer, 41, was placed under the controversial court order in 2008 – which saw her father Jamie, 32, wield power over her finances and career decisions – before it was terminated after 13 years in November 2021.

And now it’s thought American Horror Story producer Ryan Murphy, 57, wants the pop star to tell her own story on the small screen, following the upcoming release of her bombshell memoir.

Her conservatorship has been explored by the likes of Netflix, Hulu and the BBC, although the Toxic hitmaker hasn’t been involved with any of the projects.

Having brought Monica Lewinsky in as co-producer of Impeachment: American Crime Story, which dramatised her 1998 scandal with Bill Clinton, Ryan is allegedly hoping to get Britney on board as he ‘hates being accused of exploiting victims’.

The insider went on to claim he hasn’t reached out to the superstar yet and is ‘not going to push Britney into anything she isn’t comfortable with’.

Ryan previously worked with the former X Factor U.S judge on a Britney-themed episode of Glee in 2010, on which she appeared.

Last July, it was reported Britney had finally completed the long-awaited book that delves deep into her life, family and the years of her conservatorship.

The announcement that her memoir was finished was cause for celebration among fans. However, an immense paper shortage is causing a major delay in publishing the tome, TMZ reported.

Sources told the publication that there is no projected time for when the paper shortage will be fixed, which has caused an abrupt halt in rolling out a release date.

Britney and her team had originally wanted to have the memoir available in January 2023.

Sources confirmed to TMZ that Britney’s revealing memoir will be published under Simon & Schuster, one of the largest American publishers.

The Baby One More Time singer signed a book deal earlier that year in February and received a $15 million advance.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, the star expressed her excitement about having the chance to have her version of the story shared, according to USA Today.

‘Well I’m writing a book at the moment and it’s actually healing and therapeutic… it’s also hard bringing up past events in my life,’ the Toxic hitmaker wrote.

‘I’ve never been able to express openly!!! I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I was extremely young with those events took place,’ Britney concluded.

The Gimme More songstress began to put pen to paper after her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, published her own memoir, Things I Should Have Said.

Britney grew upset about the contents and claims included in the book. According to Page Six, the singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, wrote a cease-and-desist letter shortly after the memoir became available to the public.

‘Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you have exploited her for monetary gain,’ he had issued in his statement.

At the end of the letter, the lawyer added, ‘She will not tolerate it, nor should she.’
