Magnachip Unveils New 8th-Generation 150V MXT MV MOSFETs

Magnachip Semiconductor Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, has recently announced the launch of two new 150V MXT MV Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs). These cutting-edge MOSFETs utilize Magnachip’s 8th-generation trench MOSFET technology, offering enhanced energy efficiency and improved performance.

In today’s world, energy efficiency plays a crucial role in high-power devices, as it helps reduce power consumption and ensures stability. Magnachip’s newly released 8th-generation 150V MXT MV MOSFETs, namely MDES15N056PTRH and MDU150N113PTVRH, have been developed to address these needs. By leveraging their advanced trench MOSFET technology, Magnachip has successfully reduced the RDS(on) (resistance value between the drain and source of MOSFETs during on-state operation) of MDES15N056PTRH by an impressive 22% compared to the previous generation. This reduction significantly enhances energy efficiency in various applications.

Moreover, Magnachip has improved the Figure of Merit (FOM: RDS(on) x Qg) of both MDES15N056PTRH and MDU150N113PTVRH by 23% and 39% respectively, compared to the previous version. This improvement is achieved by enhancing the core cell and termination design. Additionally, the adoption of surface-mount type packages, such as D2PAK-7L (TO-263-7L) and PDFN56, allows for smaller MOSFET sizes, enabling flexible design options for motor controllers, battery management systems (BMSs), residential solar inverters, and industrial power supplies.

YJ Kim, the CEO of Magnachip, expressed his excitement about the new product offerings, stating, “Following the introduction of five 8th-generation 200V and 150V MOSFETs last year, we are pleased to now release two additional 150V MXT MV MOSFET product offerings in new packages.” Kim also emphasized that Magnachip will continue expanding its high-efficiency MXT MOSFET product portfolio, with plans to release new offerings based on 180nm microfabrication technology in the near future.
